We are less than two weeks away from the CCSD Budget Vote and School Board Election!
Be sure to vote YES on Tuesday, May 19th for the school budget, as well as YES for critical infrastructure improvements and additional classroom spaces throughout the district.
Earlier this week, the CCTA Executive Board met with candidates for the BOE to discuss the future of our school district. We thank them for taking the time to meet with us and for supporting public education, teachers, and students. We look forward to continuing these conversations and collaborating with them in the years ahead as they serve our district.
Kathleen Hand (NYSUT Member): As an educator, we know that Kathleen will bring a teacher perspective to our Board of Education and advocate for all students. Kathleen is a 2nd grade teacher in an ICT classroom in the Newburgh Enlarged City School District. Kathleen is looking forward to working together to ensure continued excellence in our schools.
Christine DIAZ: Christine has demonstrated a commitment to public education, teachers, and students throughout her first term. As the current President of the Board of Education, Christine’s actions match her commitment to listening and collaboration. She is a consensus builder and is driven to help our district continue to improve. Christine is excited to create, implement, and see through a strategic plan for our district.
Carl Gilpatrick: Carl is extremely proud of his work on the Board of Education’s visitation committee. Getting into classrooms and seeing our members help students succeed is what inspired Carl to run for another term. Carl is a true advocate for teachers and students. In his role as chair of the visitation committee, Carl has opened lines of communication with all district employees to ensure their voices are heard.
Kate Carey: With children in our elementary, middle, and high schools, Kate is committed to maintaining the academic excellence our members provide to all students. Coming from a family of educators, she understands the importance of strong public schools and is ready to partner with all stakeholders to move our district forward.
