On Saturday we will be hosting our first beetle drive. For anyone who doesn't know, beetle is a simple game played with a beetle score card, as above, a dice and a pencil - simple. It is fast paced with a group of 4 sharing a dice, passing it around, you have to roll a 6 to start to get your beetles body, before then adding head, tail and legs, once you have the head you can then add eyes and feelers. The first person in the room to get a complete beetle in each round yells "beetle" and wins a prize. We then do a bit of musical chairs, so you won't stay in your seat for too long and you play in a different 4. So there are 12 opportunities to win a prize, you also need to add up your score from each round and the top scorer at the end will win a grand prize.
It is fast paced and, from experience of other beetle drives, it is a a good laugh and often features flying dice when someone gets over-excited!!
The family game will start at 6pm, it costs 50p per person per round or £5 for all 12 games.
We recommend younger children sit with an adult and we will move you around as a pair.
The adult only game will start at 8pm, it costs £1 per person per round or £10 for all 12 games.
As the Smithy has limited seating we would recommend booking to guarantee your space, although we anticipate we will have spaces on the night. You don't need to book a full table of 4, you can book as little as 1 or as many as 10 spaces if you want. Just comment here or message Leanne Bews
We will have crisps and some homebakes. There will be a raffle (continued on from the event at Ivan's earlier in the day) and a 100 square, so plenty opportunities to win prizes.
