This shows off some of the amazing interactions we had with other nations at the working equitation world championships.

We had lots of moments of jumping into photos with folks we didn’t know and it was reliably met with smiles and laughter. Even though we were the new kids in the block from 🇺🇸 and obviously competing for the same overall goal of winning a world championship folks still treated us with kindness. Can’t say enough good things about the competitors from around the world in the sport of working equitation.

As the dust settles our historic first WAWE championship event we are filled with pride for all involved: the US team, our coach and our chef, our dedicated photographer, grooms and sponsors, and of course ALL of the amazing people that make USAWE one of the most inclusive, supportive, and exciting sports to be part of.

Our team -- two women and two men, two Lusitanos and two Mustangs -- all from exceptionally diverse equestrian backgrounds but bound together in love of the horse and this sport, boarded planes and flew to the historical seat of equestrian education in Jerez, Spain to show the world what these dark horses can do.

In an nod to the United States' incredible diversity of horsemanship the team chose to ride in English saddles and bridles, donned beautifully tailored blue cavalry style jackets, red wild rags, and iconic fringed chocolate brown chaps. Looking out from under the brim of their cowboy hats into the face of international competition like true Americans they said, "Let's show them what we're made of". And they really, really did.

We didn’t go to our first international competition to win; we went to say don’t count out the United States! Making not only a top ten, but 8th in the world finish, the sweetest icing on an already excellent cake.

We could not be more proud of our brave team: Robin Bond, Matt French, Kenton Wright, Kimberlee Barker and the alternates willing to step up Pati Pierucci and Stephanie Hayes, Team Coach Miquel Undabarrena and Chef dEquipe Julie Alonzo, not only for carrying our flag, but also carrying our love, support and hope onto the international stage.

Now as we go home to our barn and our ranches, to our backyards and our trails, USAWE looks forward to practice and advance, to be humble and work hard while continuing to support each other and to keep loving our horses fiercely.

USAWE owes a huge debt of gratitude to Barbara Price, who bravely chaired the USAWE International Committee (IC) through our first team participation in a World Championship.

Barbara has stepped down from her committee service to focus on her own life now. The USAWE Board is thus seeking Letters of Interest from members interested in chairing this important committee. Current members of the IC are welcome to apply.

Please read the position description, attached. To apply, send a brief statement of interest and résumé or summary of qualifications to [email protected] by October 12, 2026.

We are grateful to Barbara and to the other members of the IC for your work. It has made a difference!

How can you help shape the future of USAWE? Have You Made Your Nominations Yet?

Is there a fellow USAWE member you’ve been thinking about who would make a great leader?

Have you told someone, “You really should consider getting involved”?

Or maybe you’ve decided this is your year to step up and help!

There’s still time—but don’t wait too long!

Check your email for your USAWE Election Nomination link and submit your nominations by September 28 at midnight Pacific Time.
You can nominate a fellow member—or nominate yourself—and you can make as many nominations as you’d like. Just remember to complete a separate form for each nomination.
Sometimes all it takes is a little encouragement for someone to raise their hand and serve.
So…who comes to mind?
Maybe it’s someone you know. Maybe it’s you.

🌎🏆 HISTORY MADE! 🏆🌎
For the very first time in USAWE history, we proudly celebrate our first-ever team to compete at the WAWE World Championship — and what an incredible debut it was!

🇺🇸 8th IN THE WORLD! 🇺🇸

Representing USAWE on the world stage, Kimberlee Barker, Robin Bond, Matt French & Kenton Wright made history as the very first USAWE team to compete at the WAWE World Championship ... and brought home an incredible 8th place finish in the world!

To be the first is something that can never be repeated. And to make that first appearance on the world stage with a Top 10 finish is an achievement that will forever be part of USAWE history.

This result represents so much more than a placing. It represents dedication, passion, countless hours of training, teamwork, sacrifice, and belief, all coming together on the world stage.

🐴 And none of this would have been possible without the amazing horses who partnered with our riders every step of the way. Their talent, heart, trust, and dedication made these goals possible. They truly are the other half of this incredible team.

A special thank you to Chef d’Équipe Julie Alonzo for her leadership and support, and to Team Coach Miguel Undabarrena for his expertise and guidance in preparing our team for the world stage.

To everyone who helped make this historic moment possible — thank you.

🇺🇸🌎 8th in the World. First in USAWE history. Forever part of our story. ❤️🤍💙

And this is just the beginning…
