We here at 889 are truly blessed with outstanding leaders.
Last night at the Annual Council Dinner three of them were recognized for their outstanding service to our unit and council and community.
The Local Certificate of Merit is awarded to Scouts or adult leaders for notable acts of service or the application of Scouting skills. It is specifically used to recognize actions that put Scouting ideals into practice. Dave Moraski was recognized for his outstanding act of activating emergency rescue procedures for a diver who was in peril. He performed the rescue of the scuba diver, performing life saving CPR and handed him of to rescue personal upon arrival. That individual lives today due to his actions.
The Silver Beaver Award is the highest recognition a local council of Scouting America (formerly the Boy Scouts of America) can bestow upon an adult volunteer. Introduced in 1931, it honors registered Scouters of exceptional character who have provided distinguished, long-term service that directly impacts the lives of youth.
We are blessed to have our very own Assistant Scoutmaster Zac Gustafson receive this award for his service at the Unit, District, and Council Levels. Zac serves in many roles including ASM, Unit Commissioner, Baloo/ IOLS instructor, Scouting University Instructor, and Wood badge course director. All of wich impact our youth directly and indirectly every day.
We are also blessed to have our very own Rebecca Lichucki who is our Commissioner and a parent of 889 Scout Nathan. Rebecca's involvement with Scouting knows no bounds. Active in the council's Chippewa District and Council as a whole, she has hold several critical roles, including: District Commissioner, Vice Chair of Membership, COR of numerous units, vice commodore of our Sea Scout Units.
We couldn't be prouder of these 3 adult leaders and the value they bring to 889 and Three Fires Council, Scouting America, Chippewa District, Three Fires Council as a whole.
Congratulations!
