Our Building Bridges Journal Circle is taking a brief hiatus.
I enjoy the time we spend journaling together, and I look forward to doing it again in the future!
We are taking a short break in February and March. The plan is to begin again in April.
In the meantime, follow Building Bridges to Recovery on Facebook for some short journal prompts to help keep your journaling practice moving!
If you're not receiving my newsletter, please visit www.BuildingBridgesToRecovery.org to access free resources or send a message that simply says 'Newsletter'.
Looking forward to seeing you in April!

An Unexpected Gift:
I was able to extend the FREE download to midnight ET tonight, January 20th!
The number of downloads of the book yesterday was staggering. And yet some still missed out.
I will not be able to extend the free promo after tonight so if you haven't gotten your free copy yet, do it now! And share this post with your friends, neighbors, coworkers, anyone who could benefit from some inspiration.
A little backstory…
August 2002: I turned 40 and nearly lost both my daughters in one day — one to death, one to prison. That’s when the storm began…
This book was born in the wreckage, written in the healing, and anchored in faith.
If your heart has been broken by a loved one’s addiction, Where is God in the Storm of Addiction? was written for YOU.
You still have time to download the Kindle version of my book, Where is God in the Storm of Addiction? free until midnight E.T.
A sneak peek from the pages of my book:
“God is not absent in the chaos. He is already at work in the storm—even when we can’t see it.”
Sometimes the hardest question is the most honest one:
“Where is God in the storm?”
This book answers it with truth, tenderness, and hope.
Winter months can take a toll on our mental health. Cold weather and shorter days make it hard to see people, feel motivated, and seek help — especially for those living in rural areas. According to Mental Health America (MHA), the effects of seasonal changes like shorter days and cold weather add to existing challenges like isolation, season-dependent income, and access to care in rural areas. When all of these factors combine, the risk for depression, anxiety, and substance use can increase.
A 2024 poll from the American Psychiatric Association found:
* People who live in rural areas were more likely to report that their moods got worse in winter (46%) than those in urban areas (36%)
* People who live in rural areas were more likely to report that the wintertime change negatively impacted their mental health (31%) than those in urban areas (24%)
Each week, we facilitate a prayer group, a support group, and a guided journaling group.
Check the comments for the links to register and join us as we seek ways to stay connected.

How do you express gratitude in 200 words? Well, I did it! I wrote about:
"The Blank Canvas" of a new year on January 2nd
"The Beauty of Ordinary Love" on April 17th (our anniversary)
" What if Kindness Reigned" on November 13th (World Kindness Day)
" Freedom to Embrace the Small Things" on July 4th (this was an award winner 🙂 )
These essays, along with others from some amazing writers, are published in The Community Book Project. Download your copy here – https://bit.ly/4985Idb

Happy Wednesday!
No Building Bridges Journal Circle today. I'm very sick and don't have much voice.
I encourage to take the time to journal on your own. Here are some thoughts I planned to share this week.
This week's bridge is:
Bridge to Belonging: Nurture Connection Within and Around You
Fostering meaningful connections begins with slowing down and being present in your body, mind, and spirit. From this place of presence, you will have a firm foundation for building strong relationships. Let connection replace isolation.
The theme is Connection.
The verse for this week is “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2 (NIV)
Here's a writing prompt for you:
How can you be intentional about creating spaces of connection and belonging this week — for yourself and others?
Grab a cup of coffee and spend time with your journal today and I will see you all next week!
If you're not signed up for the weekly gathering, I will put the sign up in the comments.
Have a good day :)
