🏠 May Success Stories at IV PADS

IV PADS is happy to report that during the month of May, clients at our Peru and Ottawa PADS Shelters achieved important milestones toward stability and independence.

✨ 11 clients obtained housing
💼 3 clients obtained employment
❤️ 24 clients moved in with family or friends
🏡 5 clients transitioned to other living arrangements

We appreciate the dedication of our PADS staff and the support of our partner agencies who work together every day to help make these positive outcomes possible for those we serve. Thank you to everyone who supports the mission of IV PADS and helps bring hope to our community.

💛🏡 More Hope Week Volunteers in Action! 🏡💛

We wanted to share a few more photos of the amazing volunteers from Ax Church of LaSalle who spent part of their Hope Week serving at the IV PADS Peru Shelter.

Their hard work, positive attitudes, and willingness to give their time made a real difference for our shelter and the individuals and families we serve. From beautification projects to maintenance improvements, their efforts helped make our facility a more welcoming place for our clients.

🏡💛 Hope Week Makes a Difference at IV PADS! 💛🏡

🙌 A HUGE thank you to Ax Church of LaSalle for once again including IV PADS in their annual Hope Week project!

More than 20 dedicated volunteers, led by Ken Arndt, spent the day making improvements at our Peru shelter. Their hard work included painting hallways 🎨, cleaning dryer vents, trimming bushes 🌿, adding landscaping rock, and completing downspout work.

🛠️ Their Special Forces Team also tackled caulking and repairs in bathroom areas and installed an exterior fence near the outdoor play area.

These improvements help create a safer, more welcoming environment for the individuals and families we serve every day. We are incredibly grateful for AX Church’s continued partnership, generosity, and servant hearts.

The shelter looks amazing, and everyone involved had a great time making a positive impact in our community. Thank you for helping us provide hope, shelter, and support to those in need! 💙✨

🐦🏠 Nature’s Housing Update at IV PADS! 🏠🐦

At IV PADS, there is always something happening—both inside and outside our shelter! 😊
Many of you may remember our resident mourning dove that built a nest on the gutter elbow at the Peru shelter. After faithfully tending the nest, the dove has now flown on to new adventures.

But the nest didn't stay vacant for long! 🪺✨ A robin has decided it’s the perfect place to call home and has moved right in. We are excited to welcome our newest feathered resident and look forward to watching this next chapter unfold.

It’s always a joy to witness nature up close and be reminded that everyone—people and birds alike—needs a safe place to call home. ❤️

💙 A Special Birthday Gift to IV PADS! 💙🎉

We would like to give a big thank you to Bennie, who chose to help others as part of his 7th birthday celebration!

Instead of receiving only gifts for himself, Bennie asked for donations for the IV PADS Peru Shelter. Thanks to his generosity and the support of his family and friends, he donated water, snacks, paper products, $27 in cash, and a $10 gift card.

We are incredibly grateful for Bennie’s kindness, compassion, and thoughtfulness. It is inspiring to see a young person care so deeply about helping individuals and families experiencing homelessness in our community.

Thank you, Bennie, for making a difference and showing that you are never too young to help others. Your generosity will have a positive impact on the people we serve. ❤️

Ottawa PADS Shelter Construction Update 🏗️

We are excited to share that construction of the new Ottawa PADS Shelter continues to move forward and remains on track for a hopeful completion in September!

Over the past several months, we have watched this project take shape from plans on paper to a building that will soon provide a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in our community. Recent progress includes the completion of major structural work, with crews now focusing on exterior finishes and interior construction.

The new shelter will allow IV PADS to better serve those in need by providing improved facilities, increased privacy, and dedicated spaces for case management and supportive services. This investment reflects our ongoing commitment to helping individuals and families move from homelessness toward stable housing and self-sufficiency.

We are deeply grateful to the many donors, community partners, foundations, businesses, volunteers, and supporters whose generosity has made this project possible. Your belief in our mission is helping create a lasting resource for the Illinois Valley.

While there is still work ahead, it is inspiring to see this vision becoming a reality. We look forward to sharing more updates as construction progresses and hope to welcome the community to celebrate this important milestone later this year.
