Last week, the Song Foundation, along with many of our philanthropic partners, attended Foundations on the Hill in Washington, D.C.

Foundations from across the country were present, including a strong delegation from the Council of Michigan Foundations, highlighting the collective commitment to advancing this work.

We shared stories and narratives from nonprofit partners, to further humanize the impact and bring real community experiences into the conversation.

We are proud to be part of discussions that move from ideas to implementation and to help ensure the relationship between philanthropy, government, and community nonprofits remains a two-way partnership in service of the communities we support.

During Women’s History Month, we celebrate the women mentoring future leaders, leading business, shaping policy, and strengthening communities everywhere.

Today and every day, we support and uplift women like Leona Medley, Shalanda Armstrong, and Rose Khalifa, who help build equitable ecosystems that create opportunity and shift systems for change.

Check out their reflections on women who inspire them. Happy Women’s History Month!

Our board retreat was a powerful opportunity for Song Foundation staff and leadership to meet with organizers and power builders to reflect on the lessons we have learned and further strategize how to drive collective change during uncertain times. We hold to our commitment that communities are the experts on their areas of greatest need and we continue to turn learning into action as we work toward a more prosperous and equitable future.

Nature offers both beauty and wisdom. From quiet trails to community green spaces, the outdoors reminds us of the world’s wonder and our role in it.

This , let’s celebrate the parks and rec centers that make this experience accessible for everyone. Explore, support, and connect with the spaces that bring our communities to life.
