📣 It’s here—check out our new program for families!

While FairPlay has spent the past 5+ years making play more accessible by donating switch-adaptive toys and resources to schools, clinics, and other community settings, we’ve continued to hear from families that lack adaptive toys and switches in their homes.

🏡 Play should be readily accessible in all environments, including at home. The Family Play Access Program targets this gap, helping families apply for toys & switches directly.

At our last workshop, the best moment was seeing the toys come to life. 🌟

“Seeing everyone’s faces light up when their toys worked was such a special moment!” said Vanderbilt SLP graduate student Bella Blanchet. “I’ve worked with children during my clinical experiences that utilized switch-operated toys, so to learn how expensive the toys can be was a shock for sure. On the bright side, though, it was also a shock to learn just how easy it is to modify toys!”

The purpose of the workshop was twofold: to educate future clinicians about assistive technology and the importance of accessible play, and also to adapt toys for FairPlay’s annual holiday season toy donations.

“Learning to adapt accessible toys is not only a way to give back but also a valuable skill for future clinicians who wish to work in pediatrics,” shared FairPlay instructor Emily Wolfram Mathis, M.S., CCC-SLP.
