Apheresis is a type of blood donation wherein only a specific blood component (red cell, platelet, plasma or leukocyte) is removed from the body while the other components are returned back to the donor. Whole blood is drawn from the donor, the machine separates components of the blood, retains needed component/s, and then returns the other components back to the donor.

The whole donation process took for almost 2 hours. Yes, it's quite longer than the conventional whole blood donation but the product yield (Platelet Concentrate) is 6-12x greater.

We are currently looking for 4 more volunteer donors (esp regular donors) who wish to experience Apheresis donation.Those interested individuals may pm here for details regarding the process (pre, post donation). Thank you!
