Histrionic personality disorder:
Is a “Cluster B” personality disorder characterized by exaggerated emotions and attention-seeking behavior.
People with this disorder depend on approval from others, which causes them to behave dramatically/inappropriately to get the attention they desire.
The person themselves usually don’t view their behavior as problematic and so don’t usually seek help which makes diagnosis hard.
These individuals are more likely to seek help for anxiety or depression caused by problems created due to their personality disorder.
However if diagnosed, psychotherapy can help them understand their motivations and fears that lead them to their behavior, and can help them find ways to relate to others in a more positive way.
