At just 10 years old, a young boy was carrying the weight of a trauma that no child should ever experience.

As a survivor of sexual abuse, he struggled with physical pain, emotional distress, and fear. His family, already facing financial hardships, found themselves navigating an uncertain future while trying to support their son through one of the most difficult chapters of his life.

When they connected with VIHAAN, the journey toward healing began.

Through regular counselling, psychosocial support, continuous follow-ups, and legal assistance, he was given a safe space to heal. Over time, the fear that once kept him silent slowly gave way to trust. He became more comfortable expressing himself, looked forward to conversations with his support team, and began taking steady steps toward emotional recovery.

Understanding the family's challenges, VIHAAN also supported them in accessing legal remedies and financial assistance available to child survivors, helping them continue his treatment, education, and rehabilitation with greater stability.

Healing is never immediate. It takes patience, compassion, and people who refuse to give up on a child.

At VIHAAN, we remain committed to ensuring that every child survivor receives protection, justice, psychosocial care, and the opportunity to rebuild a future filled with hope.

Because every child deserves more than survival, they deserve to heal, dream, and thrive.

VIHAAN organized a state-level workshop in Bengaluru, bringing together senior police officers, legal experts, government officials, and anti-human trafficking stakeholders from across Karnataka.

The workshop focused on improving rescue operations, strengthening coordination between departments, supporting survivors, and sharing practical approaches to investigate and respond to trafficking cases.

The event provided a platform for experts and officials to exchange knowledge and discuss ways to make anti-human trafficking efforts more effective.

By bringing together key stakeholders, VIHAAN continues to support stronger systems and partnerships in the fight against human trafficking.

This is the story of a 6-year-old girl whose life changed in a single moment. While her parents were away at work, she was playing near her home with other children and relatives. A stranger approached the children, attempting to gain their trust by offering them gifts. While the other children remained cautious, the young girl was manipulated into accompanying him under the pretext of buying something.

When her family found her later that day, she was frightened, inconsolable, and deeply traumatized.

The case was referred to Vihaan, where our team immediately stepped in to ensure that the child received the care and protection she deserved. We facilitated timely legal and medical intervention and began working closely with both the child and her family. Through regular home visits, emotional support, continuous follow-ups, and guidance throughout the legal process, we focused on helping them feel safe, supported, and never alone.

Understanding that healing goes beyond immediate intervention, we worked to restore a sense of normalcy in her life. Vihaan facilitated her admission to school, giving her the opportunity to continue her education, build friendships, participate in activities, and gradually rediscover the joy of childhood. Since the family was facing financial hardships, we also ensured that her educational expenses were supported so that her learning journey would continue uninterrupted.

Today, this brave little girl is studying in Grade 1. She attends school regularly, participates enthusiastically in classroom activities, and is slowly rebuilding her confidence. Every smile, every new friendship, and every small achievement reflects the incredible resilience of a child who refused to let trauma define her future.

Throughout this journey, Vihaan's legal team remained by the family's side. We coordinated with the relevant authorities, guided the family through every stage of the legal proceedings, accompanied them during court hearings, and provided continuous legal counselling. Our team also pursued the victim compensation process through persistent follow-ups, helping the family secure interim financial assistance that will support the child's recovery and future.

Today, the child and her family are in a far more stable and hopeful place. While the journey of healing continues, her story stands as a powerful reminder that timely intervention, compassionate care, access to education, and unwavering support can transform lives.

At Vihaan, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, to dream without fear, and to grow up with dignity, hope, and endless possibilities.

One young girl grew up in a family struggling with generations of social and economic challenges. Her mother was married at a very young age, and later left the family, leaving the girl to be raised by her father. Living in poverty, her father worked as a daily wage labourer, doing everything he could to provide for his daughter despite having very limited resources.

The hardships at home began to affect her education. She gradually lost interest in school, found it difficult to keep up with her studies, and started falling behind academically.

Everything changed when she joined VIHAAN's evening learning support program.

For the first time, learning became enjoyable. Through interactive lessons, games, patient guidance, and continuous encouragement, she found the confidence to ask questions, understand concepts, and actively participate in class. The teachers closely monitored her progress, ensuring she received the support she needed every step of the way.

Today, she is showing steady improvement in her academics and, more importantly, has rediscovered her love for learning.

Her story reminds us that when children are given the right support, encouragement, and a safe space to grow, they can overcome even the most difficult circumstances.

At VIHAAN, we believe every child deserves that opportunity. Together, we can help transform challenges into hope and dreams into reality.

When Ananya was rescued from a situation of exploitation in 2023, she began a journey toward healing, safety, and a new beginning. While she received the care and support needed to rebuild her life, one challenge remained, her family's financial struggles threatened the stability she needed for long-term rehabilitation.

At VIHAAN, we understand that true rehabilitation extends beyond the individual. It means strengthening the family and creating an environment where survivors can return to safety, stability, and hope.

To support this journey, VIHAAN provided livelihood assistance to Meera, Ananya's mother, enabling her to expand her small home-based garment business. With this support, she purchased new stock and transformed a room in her home into a modest garment shop, taking her first step toward financial independence.

What began as a small business soon grew into a reliable source of income. Over the following months, the shop experienced steady growth, with increased sales during festive seasons and consistent profits that allowed the family to become more financially secure. More importantly, it gave them confidence, dignity, and the ability to look toward the future with hope.

Today, the garment shop stands as more than a business, it is a symbol of resilience, determination, and the power of opportunity. By investing in livelihoods, VIHAAN helped create a stronger foundation where healing could continue without the constant burden of economic uncertainty.

This story reminds us that rescue is only the beginning. Lasting change happens when survivors and their families are empowered with the tools, opportunities, and support they need to build independent, dignified lives.

Because when we invest in people, we don't just change one life,we help transform an entire family's future.

After hours of relentless effort, the child was finally located and safely rescued.

The child was subsequently handed over to the concerned authorities for appropriate care and legal procedures, ensuring that the next steps in her protection and rehabilitation could begin.

This rescue is a reminder that behind every successful operation are countless unseen hours of searching, hoping, and refusing to give up. It is a testament to what becomes possible when law enforcement, child protection authorities, and dedicated field teams work together with one shared purpose, to bring every child home safely.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the District Child Protection Unit, the police officials involved, and every member of the Vihaan team whose perseverance made this rescue possible.

For the child's safety and privacy, identifying details have been intentionally withheld.

Because every child deserves more than a search.
Every child deserves to be found.

They should have been worrying about school assignments, friendships, and dreams for the future.

Instead, two teenage girls found themselves in a situation no child should ever have to face.

One came from a family struggling to make ends meet. Another was still navigating adolescence and the challenges of growing up. Different backgrounds, different stories, but both were vulnerable.

On 8 June 2026, after days of intelligence gathering and coordination with law enforcement authorities, a rescue operation was carried out. A dedicated team of social workers, volunteers, and officers worked together to ensure the girls were brought to safety.

Rescue is only the first step.

When the girls were recovered, they were frightened, uncertain, and hesitant to share their experiences. Our team remained by their side through the long hours that followed - during documentation, medical examinations, and the process of securing safe shelter and protection.

Today, they are no longer alone.

As legal proceedings continue, our focus remains on ensuring that these young survivors receive the care, protection, counselling, and support they need to rebuild their lives.

Behind every rescue is a child with dreams, potential, and a future worth protecting.

Join us as we begin our journey to give these children a new beginning, a life of hope and dignity.

They thought they were travelling towards a brighter future.

In March 2026, two young girls from a small town in eastern India left home after being promised employment opportunities in a metropolitan city. Like many children from vulnerable communities, they believed they were taking a step towards independence and a better life. Instead, they were being drawn into a trafficking network.

A missing person complaint was filed, and a timely alert reached Vihaan through one of our partner organizations. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, our team immediately coordinated with railway authorities and law enforcement agencies across states. Through rapid information sharing and meticulous tracking, the girls were located while travelling by train.

Within hours of receiving the alert, the girls were safely rescued before they could be handed over to exploiters.

The rescue was only the beginning. Following the intervention, the girls were provided with care, protection, and emotional support. They were produced before the Child Welfare Committee and placed in a safe environment while necessary legal and family verification processes were completed.

Weeks later, both girls were reunited with their families.

This case is a powerful reminder that behind every trafficking statistic is a child with dreams, hopes, and a future worth protecting. It also demonstrates the life-saving impact of timely reporting, coordinated action, and strong partnerships between communities, civil society organizations, and law enforcement.

Every alert matters.
Every rescue matters.https://buffer-media-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/689767aa3ea3fa672a0269e1/6a2e7b5f7b56641d9d0e02a8/bd3fb0e6c095e38641e6b20529398edc.original.png
Every child deserves to grow up safe.
