Hello everyone, after a long wait, we're thrilled to share some joyous yet bittersweet news with you all! Our farm in the Ozarks is flourishing thanks to hard work and dedication, and we're excited to announce that our wedding is just around the corner, taking place at the end of this month. However, due to the devastating floods that hit Northern Michigan last month, the spot we had originally chosen for our wedding day has been severely impacted.

This conservation area holds a special place in our hearts as it's where we first spent Valentine's Day together over 8 years ago in the snow and ice with a small fire next to Bear creek. It’s where both our families call home, which made it the perfect choice for us to do our nuptials. Now, the conservation area is in dire need of support to rebuild and restore what was lost. We're reaching out for help, and any donation, big or small, would mean the world to us. Missouri, Arkansas, and Michigan have all become integral parts of our journey, and we hope that these beautiful places will continue to thrive, inspire, and educate future generations in their natural state.

A little more about Spirit of the Woods:
Spirit of the Woods Conservation Club has been a cornerstone of our community for over 80 years, offering a space for gatherings, celebrations, and outdoor activities. After recent flooding, the clubhouse and grounds have suffered significant damage, and they need our support to recover. Consider donating or sharing this fundraiser to help restore a place that has brought so much joy to many.

The go fund me is here and their funding request is modest in comparison to a lot of other crowd funding requests we have seen.

Our New Year’s Eve fire has officially been burning for a week. The coals of the stump we built the fire on has kept it going since we lit it on New Year’s Eve day 😂

As the sun sets on another year, we gather around the fire to reflect on the trails traveled and the rivers paddled. The Ozarks have a way of grounding us and reminding us of the wild beauty waiting just outside our doors.

May your New Year be filled with new horizons, challenging climbs, breathtaking views, and the warmth of shared adventures under the stars. Here’s to leaving the beaten path behind and blazing new trails in 2026!

This is me for sure and Ed knows it! Best night we’ve had in a long time was sleeping under the trees and stars by the fire in the hollow at our farm last week. A small creek runs about 20 feet (down hill) from where we will be building our little A-Frame cabin.

As many families know all too well, ticks are tiny, but their impact isn’t. Alpha-Gal Syndrome affects daily life, healthcare decisions, and food access for thousands of Missourians, often with little public awareness

Thats why I’m pleased to announce that I will be sponsoring Alpha-Gal Syndrome (AGS) Advocacy Day at the Missouri State Capitol.

We will begin with a brief presentation and Q&A session on HB 1855, legislation focused on improving understanding through surveillance, data collection, and policy responses related to Alpha-Gal Syndrome in Missouri. This will provide an opportunity for individuals, families, advocates, and lawmakers to engage directly on why this issue matters and how the General Assembly can help..

Following the Q&A, attendees will be encouraged to meet directly with their Representatives and Senators to discuss the importance of this legislation and to share their lived experiences. Direct advocacy helps ensure that policy is informed by real-world impact.

Alpha Gal safe refreshments will be provided during the presentation so everyone can participate safely and comfortably.

If you or a loved one is impacted by AGS, or if you want to learn more, I encourage you to attend, make your voice heard, and help educate policymakers on an issue that can no longer be overlooked.

Enjoyed a wonderful night last evening after getting a solid start on clearing a space for a new A-Frame off grid cabin. I plan to do more documentation of this clearing and build and hopefully will find the time to make it into a video. Time is always the thing that we are most shirt on, for sure. 😂
