📣 Detroit is welcoming dental professionals from across the country!

The American Dental Therapy Association’s 2026 Annual Conference will take place Aug. 10–12 at The Westin Book Cadillac Detroit. This national conference is open to ALL dental professionals interested in learning, collaboration and innovative approaches to strengthening the oral health workforce and expanding access to care.

The Michigan Oral Health Coalition is excited to have this important national conversation happening right here in Michigan. We encourage dentists, dental hygienists, dental therapists, educators, students, public health professionals and other oral health partners to learn more and consider attending. 🦷

🪥 Happy National Toothbrush Day! 🪥

Today is a great reminder that one small habit can have a big impact on your overall health.

Brushing your teeth twice a day for two minutes with a fluoride toothpaste helps prevent cavities and gum disease while supporting your overall well-being. Don’t forget to replace your toothbrush (or toothbrush head) every 3–4 months, or sooner if the bristles become frayed or after you’ve been sick.

Healthy smiles start with simple daily habits, and everyone deserves access to the tools and care needed to maintain good oral health.

🦷 Brush.
🪥 Floss.
💧 Drink fluoridated water when available.
😁 Visit your dental professional regularly.

A few moments from MOHC’s 2026 Advocacy Day and Annual Conference in Lansing!

In May, oral health advocates, providers, policymakers, public health professionals, local coalition leaders, and partners gathered for a multi-day event focused on advancing oral health priorities throughout Michigan.

Mission of Mercy is happening THIS WEEK in Kalamazoo, and volunteers are still needed!

The Michigan Dental Association Foundation’s Mission of Mercy provides free dental care to individuals and families who may otherwise go without needed treatment. This incredible effort depends on volunteers coming together to help make care possible.

Volunteers are still needed in several areas, including:

🦷 Oral surgery

URGENT: Statewide Survey of Michigan Dentists and Dental Hygienists 🥼🦷

Attention Dental Professionals! 📣 The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services's Oral Health Program and Michigan Health Council are currently surveying licensed Dentists and Dental Hygienists about future employment plans to better understand the current supply and distribution of oral health providers across the state. We encourage you to take a few minutes to complete the survey so we can support Michiganders’ access to oral health care in the future.

Did you know Fred Rogers once visited the dentist on Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood?

In true Mr. Rogers fashion, he turned it into a calm, reassuring moment, showing kids that going to the dentist isn’t something to fear, but a normal part of taking care of yourself. Positive, early experiences can help shape how children view oral health for the rest of their lives.

💰 A loan repayment program to support private practice medicaid dentists in underserved communities (up to $40,000 per year, up to five years)

💰 A loan repayment program for nonprofit dentists (up to $25,000 per year, up to three years)

💰 A loan repayment program for dental hygienists (up to $5,000 per year, up to three years) who commit to working in nonprofit clinics.

💰Scholarships for dental hygiene students to cover tuition costs (up to $15,000 per year for up to two years).�
