Last night, we asked our beautiful community to help us choose a name for FREYA’s next little kitten, and as always, you didn’t disappoint! 🖤🤍

One of our community members suggested Charlie Chaplin, and little did we know just how special that name would become. ❤️🐾🖤

Yesterday, one of our long-term foster family members said goodbye to her beloved foster fail tuxedo cat, Charlie, as he grew his wings and crossed over the rainbow bridge. 🌈🐾🌈🐾

Sometimes, life brings these little moments of connection when we least expect them. ♥️

In honour of our community member who suggested Charlie Chaplin, and in loving memory of Charlie, we have decided to name Freya’s little kitten CHARLIE if a boy, or CHARLI if a girl. 🖤🐾💓

A name chosen by our community, made even more meaningful by a beautiful soul who will never be forgotten.

Fly high beautiful Charlie and thank you for being part of our life. 🖤🤍♥️

Meet this absolutely gorgeous little tuxedo kitten! 🖤🤍

We’re not 100% sure whether this little one is a 💙 boy or a
💖girl, but we’re quietly confident it’s a BOY! Of course, we’ve been known to get that wrong before! 🤦‍♀️😹

One thing we can tell you for sure is that this little tuxedo has a BIG voice! 📣🙀
Out of FREYA’s four babies, this little one certainly has the loudest meow and a set of lungs that are working exceptionally well! 😹😸😹

It also has the cutest little black fur patch next to its nose and under the chin! Like little kitten birth marks 🖤🤍

🚨🚨APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN! 🚨🚨

Our DISCOUNT DESEXING PROGRAM is now accepting applications!

What's involved?

💲 All approved applicants must contribute $50 towards the cost of desexing.
🐈 This offer is available for female cats (male cats only if from the same home).
🚗 You must provide transport for your cat to and from the vet (Dapto or Fairy Meadow).
🌏 Available to residents of Wollongong and Shellharbour LGA who have a pension or healthcare card. (Must be provided).

❌ Prevention matters ❌

To begin with, we will have the capacity to desex up to 4-5 cats a week between our two supporting vet clinics.

Four cats a week might sound like a small number, but over a year that’s potentially
more than 200 cats, and every one of those cats has the potential to prevent multiple unwanted litters! Meaning hundreds, potentially thousands, of kittens who may never have to face life without a safe home. 🫶

🧡🐾 Nothing Like Starting CATURDAY Off with BREAKFAST in BED 🐾🖤

Mumma FREYA certainly deserved a heap of TLC after the life she has had.🧡🙌🏼🖤

We are Excited to report that she has already allowed Jules to put her hand in the extra large cage and only a few hisses as a warning.

She is one heck of a fabulous Mumma and looks at her 4 babies as if to say, “wow are they mine”. 🧡🤍🖤

Through this week coming and only with FREYA’s permission we will take photos of each kitten so we can introduce them to you.

🐾 HAPPY VET NURSE DAY! 🐾

Today we celebrate the incredible vet nurses who are there for our kitty cats through every step of their journey from
Coastal Vet Collective, Fairy Meadow and Companion Animal Veterinary Hospital, Dapto. ❤️🐾😻

From the moment our frightened rescues walks through the Vet doors, to vaccinations, desexing, microchipping, surgery, tests, recovery and those little moments of reassurance when they need someone to hold a paw you are there. 🐾😻🐾

Behind every rescue kitty cat is a team of people who care deeply, and our vet nurses are such a huge part of that team.

To all the amazing vet nurses who have cared for our FFLR kitty cats….. THANK YOU ❤️

Thank you for your patience, your compassion, your knowledge, your gentle hands and for loving our kitty cats almost as much as we do. 😻

🖤🧡🤍 INTRODUCING OUR NEWEST FAMILY MEMBERS

Late yesterday, we welcomed this beautiful little family into our RESCUE family. 🖤🤍🧡

Meet FREYA, a gorgeous tortoiseshell Mum and her four tiny babies, who were born yesterday!

Mumma FREYA and her 4 babies are now safe and settled into care at Jules home, where Jules has given their beautiful mum the name Freya. 🧡🌸🖤

FREYA and her babies were trapped by the wonderful Elsje Zurne, who then safely delivered them into our care. Bless you Elsje 😻🐾♥️

A lovely cat-loving lady from Port Kembla had been feeding Freya and looking out for her. We believe Freya may have lived rough on the streets since she was a kitten and she really is only a kitten herself.

Just 24 hours after arriving into care, we are absolutely thrilled to report that this beautiful FREYA is:

🧡 Eating up a storm
🤍 Caring beautifully for all four of her babies
🖤 Using her litter box
♥️ And settling into the safety and comfort of her new surroundings!!

For a little family who only yesterday just knew life on the streets, this is already a pretty wonderful start. 🙌🏼🐾😻

We can’t wait to share FREYA and her four babies’ journey with you all. The little milestones, their growth, their personalities and, most importantly, their beautiful chapter in care with us.

ONE CAT CAN CHANGE EVERYTHING…

😼 It starts with one female cat.
😼😼😼 One unplanned litter.
😼😼😼😼😼 Then those kittens grow up and before long, there are more kittens. And more. And more. This is how the cycle begins.

Every week, rescues like ours are contacted about unwanted kittens, abandoned cats and litters that families simply cannot afford to care for.

We rescue them. We rehabilitate them. We desex, microchip and vaccinate them, and find them loving homes.

But what if we could help stop some of those kittens from ever needing rescue in the first place?

We can. And now we’re going to. 🥳

🎉🐱 FRIENDS FOR LIFE RESCUE DISCOUNT DESEXING PROGRAM 🐱🎉

We are incredibly proud to announce that our DISCOUNT DESEXING PROGRAM will launch on this coming Monday night! This program has been created to help prevent unwanted litters and reduce the number of cats and kittens entering rescue and pounds across our community.

We will go into more detail on Monday night, but below are a few basics of the program:

- All approved applicants must contribute $50 towards the cost of desexing. This is payable once approved and before any appointment can be made.
- This offer is available for female cats. Male cats can only be included in the program if a female from the same home is also being desexed.
- You must be able to organise safe transport for your cat to and from the vet (Dapto or Fairy Meadow).

This program has been made possible through the incredible generosity of Woonona Petfood & Produce. Their recent donation has allowed us to turn a dream into a meaningful initiative that will help make desexing more accessible to cats and their families in our community.

We are also incredibly grateful to our wonderful veterinary partners at Companion Animal Veterinary Hospital, Dapto and Coastal Vet Collective, Fairy Meadow whose support and willingness to work alongside us has helped make this important program possible.

This is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when local businesses, veterinary professionals and animal rescue come together with a shared commitment to improving the lives of cats in our community.

Well… we told you we wouldn’t be sitting still over the long weekend and we certainly haven’t! 😂🐾😻

We’ve been working away behind the scenes and we’re very excited to let you know that we have now established all of the processes, policies, guidelines and forms needed for our upcoming community program. 🐾😻

Even more exciting…….
we can also confirm that our wonderful Vet Partners will be working alongside us to help bring this program to life. ♥️😻

We still have a little more work to do this week to put everything into place and make sure the program is ready to launch properly.

We want to make sure everything is clear, fair, transparent and, most importantly, that we have a solid process in place from the very beginning.

We can’t wait to share exactly what we’ve been working on and how this new program will help support our local community.
