Hello! We want to thank everyone who has liked and shared our post. This initially started are a HOSA or Health Occupations Students of America project for a competition, but it has turned into something so much more! Yesterday afternoon, we had opening ceremonies along with our five minute speech that described what we have done. Today at 1:30, we will see if we placed for our category ”Community Awareness”. Regardless of the results, we are so thrilled to see everything that we’ve done for our school and community. After competition, we will start working on a proposal to make an awareness club at our school ! Thank you for supporting, and we will update !

Officially, this is project #9 and our last. For this project, the 200 hallway graciously let us use their display boards. For the rest of the year, this will be the official ” social anxiety” board for students, teachers, and staff. As of right now, we have two art pieces and two writings. We hope that this allows students to visualize what social anxiety feels like to others. We want there to be a safe haven for students suffering and for them to know they aren’t the only ones. We are still looking to grow our amount of pieces on display, so please reach out! If interested, you can message 361-585-7036, [email protected], and of course, this Facebook account. Project #9 ✅.

Project #7✅✅
Today, we had the amazing oppurtunity to read donated books at our local child learning center! Thanks to authors Gabi Garcia and Jayneen Sanders, we were able to teach/ read books about feelings, worries, hard task, social anxiety, calmness and so much more! The students had a wonderful time responding/ listening to their peers name their happy items, worries, emotions, etc! After enjoying reading time, the students were thrilled to hear that the books were for their library. If you are looking for a way to explain/ teach these topics to little kids around you, check out books by Gabi Garcia and Jayneen Sanders! ✅

Project #5 ✅
As we get closer to competition time, we are getting to our last projects! For this project, we had the honor of having affirmation jars put throughout the school. Students are able to pull a positive reminder to take or put back and add for others. If you ever need a positive reminder, don’t be afraid to stop by the library, front office, college and career center, counselors center or any of these amazing teachers to feel better. Be ready for more to come!

We’re back ! To start off with more active awareness, our first project back was at Moody High Schools winter wonderland! While families were enjoying music and cocoa, our team got to spread awareness on social anxiety with a little holiday spin. The two Christmas trees represented someone with vs. A normal person. Students were able to hear different scenarios of social anxiety and visually see what it’s like on the inside. We are exited to start getting more active, and be prepared for more events:))

Today marks project #3! We had an awesome time spreading awareness to students and parents on how to help themselves in the event of a social anxiety attack. It was amazing to see students and parents faces light up as they got to pick an affirmation out, and give one back to do the same act of kindness for others. This is only the beginning of our awareness and we thrilled for the upcoming projects and partnerships! Don’t forget to have an amazing weekend and stay updated with our project post !
