Alrightyyyyy folks, we’re going to start doing things a little different on our page. We’re introducing Fire Fridays! (Yes, I know it’s Monday) Every Friday we will have a list of calls that our department has ran for the week. So to catch up for last week our department ran 3 structure fires, 3 wrecks, 2 grass fires, 3 EMS assist, 1 hazmat, 1 reported aircraft crash. (Aircraft just needed an emergency landing)

While we recognize that some folks got a little bit of rain we would like to remind everyone we’re STILL under a burn ban. Please use extreme caution if doing ANY hot work outside.

As always if you see something, say something!

Stay Safe! ❤️🚒

Last Thursday our department was dispatched to a structure fire in the New Baden area. Units arrived on scene to find a barn fully engulfed. The structure fire quickly caught the grass around the building on fire which spread rapidly. The grass fire was quickly contained to 5 acres. The barn was extinguished and containment lines were cut around grass lines with the help of the county maintainers. Crews took a brief break for some super and refueling then returned to the scene to strengthen containment lines until about midnight. Once the containment lines were strengthened crews wrapped up and went back into service. We greatly appreciate the help of our fellow neighboring Volunteer fire departments, EMS, Deputies, Emergency Management, Franklin PD, Dispatchers, TDEM, and County Commissioners. It’s always great to see so many different crews come together to care of our community. ❤️🚒

Early yesterday morning our department was toned out to a residential structure fire on the east side of the county. Crews arrived on scene to find one structure fully engulfed. All occupants were out of the building and unharmed thanks to a child alerting the parents to the smell of smoke. Crews contained the fire to the structure. Unfortunately the home was a complete loss. Thank you to the assisting agencies for all the help! Please remember to check your smoke detectors!

Yesterday afternoon our department was dispatched to a structure fire in the south east side of the county. Upon arrival mutual aid was requested from Robertson and Brazos county, out of abundance of caution we evacuated the neighbors. While waiting for mutual aid to arrive there was a fire apparatus that was involved in a wreck which started a small grass fire. Both crew members are okay and home already! Grass fire was quickly contained. The structure fire was contained to the structure. Unfortunately all contents were lost. We appreciate all the help and support from each agency and crew member. Without everyone’s dedication, team work, and willingness to not quit this could have been a lot worse. We’re facing extreme heat conditions with it being August in Texas while battling fires. We’re incredibly thankful for the rehab from EMS members and fellows firefighters. We’re glad to say we had no fallen crew members. Where someone needed a break others stepped up. This a good reminder that in this service we’re always a family here to help our community.

Robertson County will be experiencing extreme temperatures over the next 10 days or so, and we encourage everyone to begin making plans now to stay safe.

If you know you may have difficulty maintaining a safe temperature inside your home, please make arrangements with family or friends to relocate temporarily until conditions improve. Don’t wait until your home becomes dangerously hot to make a plan.

We also ask everyone to check on family members, friends, neighbors, and others who may be especially vulnerable to extreme heat. A phone call or quick visit could make a big difference. Make sure they have adequate air conditioning, plenty of water, and a safe place to go if needed.

And remember—outdoor pets are family too. Make sure they have plenty of fresh water, shade, and a way to escape the extreme heat. If possible, bring them into a cooler environment during the hottest part of the day.

Plan ahead. Check on each other. Stay Hydrated, Stay Safe, and Stay Blessed!

Last night our department was dispatched to a report of a brush fire. It arrived on scene to find approximately a quarter acre burnt with minimal progression. Units on scene quickly contained the fire and extinguished hot spots on the interior.

We just want to remind everyone of a little fire safety. Burn piles that were lit previously before the burn ban was put into place might still reignite. The conditions are very hot and dry and only getting dryer. We encourage everyone to use the “if you see something, say something” policy.

Be safe!! Don’t ever hesitate to call us!! ❤️🚒
