Results from the 2026 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count of homelessness have been released.

This year’s count identified 571 people experiencing homelessness in Montgomery County, including 488 individuals staying in shelters and 83 individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness.

The results reflect the third consecutive year of decline in homelessness locally, while also highlighting the continued need for housing, shelter and supportive services in our community.

The PIT Count is conducted annually as required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and helps communities better understand homelessness, evaluate local efforts and guide future investments.
