This month Shipley Green Drinks is happening Thursday 16th July 5-7

“A better way to die” - come along and learn about how talking about death, dying and bereavement can mean a better death for ourselves, our communities and planet.

Informal and friendly social networking for climate solutions on the 3rd Thursday each month.

The Dandelion Cafe will be serving their regular menu of delicious food and drinks.

The Dandelion Cafe is accessible for most folk using a wheelchair, seating is on benches and dining chairs. There is one sofa. Get in touch with questions or concerns about specific access needs.

Today would have been Andy’s birthday ❤️

By chance our 10th anniversary group night falls on the very same day.

Ten years ago nine men walked through the doors of our very first ANDYSMANCLUB.

Tonight thousands of men will walk through hundreds of doors across the UK.

Every group has had pizzas delivered to mark the occasion but the real milestone isn’t the food…

It’s the conversations that will happen tonight.

The men who’ll walk through the door.

The facilitators who’ll be there to welcome them.

Happy Birthday Andy.

It was a wonderful walk this morning as part of Aireborough Together, organised by the green team of St Oswalds Church and led by Jennifer Kirby, a local historian with so much knowledge! Thank you.

We followed medieval tracks, looked at graveyards and landscapes, boundary walls and gates. Climbed over styles to discuss crofts and becks and farmland and wells. It was fascinating reflecting how Guiseley has developed over the ages and finding out more about its history and its people.

We finished with a cup of coffee at Guiseley Theatre .

The walks are open to anyone who has an association with Aireborough. They explore different areas of interest , are led by different groups , are free and a great way to meet new people and find out more about the groups and the area. You would be very welcome.

The next walk will be led by Incredible Edible Aireborough on Monday 7th September 9.15 am meet. They usually last about 45 -60 mins with an opportunity for refreshments afterwards.

Today is National Bereaved Parents Day and we thank all those charities specialising in the support of bereaved parents nationwide.

Please see their website's for information and guidance on the vital help they offer.

Many of these organisations are run by those who have experienced the death of a child at any age, and The Compassionate Friends, UK offer outstanding peer support.

Our next Aireborough Together walk 6th July 9.15 am meet at St Oswald’s Church.

The walks normally last about 45 mins and explore different areas of Aireborough. It’s a great chance to explore somewhere new , meet other community groups and people. All very welcome

An early morning start to set up a stall at Sunny Bank Mills for their craft destash event.

It’s not easy letting go of materials and objects that have been so much a part of your persons life, interests and hobbies. There are no rules for the ‘right time’, just the time that feels right for you - whenever that may be .

Sometimes knowing the objects will be repurposed or reinvented, bringing and allowing further creativity and enjoyment helps a little.

Jane had a life long love of quilting and embroidery, it has been lovely hearing about her interests and skill in dress making and her passion for learning and community events. She sounds like she was a busy lady😊

Some of her material was bought to make bags, scrunchies, finish off other people’s quilts , cover books……Some of the books and packs will go to children and young people so they can play, learn, create, explore and make.

Jane’s love of creativity and play continues 😊

Being in such a creative space also gave us time to think and inspire the ideas for our next Good Grief Guiseley community crafty get togethers after summer. A plan is coming together!

We’re really looking forward to creating also with the beautiful material given to the grief cafe by AW Hainsworth earlier in the year, along with some extra bits and pieces bought today!! A good day !

Ilkley & District u3a groups in Guiseley😊!

☕Around a dozen people met this week at Everybodys, Guiseley, for a cuppa and a chat

☕It was good to welcome new and potential members and to share information about local activities and groups - u3a and otherwise!

📅 The next get-together is on Wednesday 22 July, 10:30am-12 noon

☕Coffee and tea are provided - feel free to just drop in and don’t feel you have to stay for the whole time....
