Help the Philippines get through the COVID outbreak

Hi everyone,

We are raising money to buy COVID-19 testing kits and full body PPE kits for the Philippines. The whole island of Luzon is currently on lockdown as the national government attempts to contain the outbreak. One of the most effective ways to decrease the number of new cases is through widespread testing. We saw this in South Korea, which has succeeded in greatly slowing down the epidemic, even without locking down its cities.

Earlier, the Philippines said it only had 2,000 testing kits for 100M people. Since then, the government has received additional kits from China, Singapore and South Korea among others. We are aiming to raise funds for more kits to donate to Philippine hospitals, seeing that this outbreak could go on for months. We will be shipping these kits from Hong Kong and China to the Philippines. We are aiming to raise enough for a total of 4,000 test kits or more, if we can.

There are two types of test kits, each a box of 20:

1. US$220 for RT-PCR test kits

2. US$320 SARS COV-2 Antibody test kits, which we will import from China and Hong Kong respectively.

Both these kits are FDA Philippines approved. We will need to reach a minimum order quantity of 2,000 test kits per type.

While buying a full box of kits will go a long way in helping our cause, we appreciate any amount donated. The amounts above exclude customs clearance and shipping costs.

If you have a specific preference as to where your money will go, whether towards a certain type of test kits, please let us know.

We will be donating these to the Lung Center of the Philippines, UP National Institutes of Health, and St. Luke’s Hospital. We are exploring other benefactors as well.

We will constantly update you all at the end of every day, on how many boxes and suits we have been able to raise money for. Once we have reached our goal, we will update you on the shipping from Hong Kong/China to Manila, and when it finally gets to the hands of health practitioners.
