We coach on how to ride features in the terrain parks and how to build them.

Monday we took it all the way down to scale.
3D-printed snowboard models.
Handmade boards customized by each scholar.
Simulated snow (yes, scholars made our own).
And a mini terrain park built from the ground up.

Physics in motion.

Scholars worked through:
• how speed carries through transitions
• why angle and shape matter on features
• how to create flow
• what makes a line actually rideable (not just look cool)

They tested ideas, rebuilt features, and watched how small changes impacted momentum.

STEM, grounded.
Hands-on.

🍕🪩 Did someone call for pizza delivery?

Getting the gang more confident through movement. Scholars decorated and topped off pizza slices. Next they took turns skating to collect slices from friends.

She didn’t just learn it, she saw where it was going.

This week’s Leadership Lab Star walked into session knowing every part of the snowboard from the class the week before. Not from memorizing, but from understanding. Edges, base, bindings, how to mount bindings, discover stance… and more importantly, why this matters and when to apply it.
Before we even got there, she was already connecting it to movement, control, and progression.
Then she turned around and brought others with her.

At Camp Outpost, skill-building is a pathway:

→ from understanding to confidence
→ from confidence to leadership
→ from leadership to community impact
We design our programs so participants progress and they pull others forward with them.

This week’s Leadership Lab Star led. She noticed. She made space for others to step in.

As a team, and organization, we’ve been thinking about how we collectively describe what we’re good at.

I think we’re strength seekers.

Not in a big, flashy way. We’re just really good at noticing. We see the kid who’s hanging back and unsure. The one who hasn’t quite found their thing yet.
And we don’t call it out or make it a moment, as a team, we just give them space and the right tool.
A skateboard. A snowboard. A kayak. A saddle on a horse. Something they can feel. Then we watch.
And when it clicks, even just a little, we say it. Like, “hey THAT was it.” And you can almost SEE it when it lands.

We have a scholar this term, that’s taken him about four weeks to get a skill we’ve been working on. This last week he got to FEEL the progression- his work is producing results. He is growing.
At the end of clinic this week, he walked over, grabbed his backpack, and pulled out a school project to show us.
Like… once he felt that confidence in one place, he brought it somewhere else immediately.
It’s never just about skateboarding or snowboarding.
It spills.
You give someone one place where they feel capable, and suddenly they start testing that everywhere.
School. Conversations. How they carry themselves.
And if there’s someone there to notice it and reflect it back to them…. Ohhh baby, golden.

Scout Ramp travels to for Winter Term snowboard clinic 🪩

Sunday looked like mentors tightening boots, standing shoulder to shoulder at the top of the ramp with their littles, saying “I’ve got you”and meaning it.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands is the confidence passed from one person to another until it sticks. Mentoring with togetherness and commitment.

Mentorship in motion. Consistent. Patient. Real.

Spring showed up and so did the crew.

Big thanks to for building the funnest trucks in the game that keep things flowy, surfy, and accessible for our beginners.

More kids on boards. More communities moving.
