The first miracle of Jesus didn’t happen in a church or a synagogue, it happened at a wedding. That alone tells us something powerful that marriage matters to God.

At Cana, everything looked joyful on the outside, but behind the scenes, the wine ran out. Isn’t that like marriage sometimes? You start full of excitement, laughter, passion, and big dreams… and then life happens. Stress, finances, misunderstandings, exhaustion, and unmet expectations can make the “wine” feel like it’s finished.

But here’s the hope, Jesus was already in the room. When Mary said, “They have no wine,” she didn’t shame anyone, she simply acknowledged the need and brought it to Jesus.

In marriage, the breakthrough often begins when couples stop pretending and start praying. Not blaming, not hiding, just saying, “Lord, we need You here.”

Make it intentional as a couple, fight for your marriage, speak positive about your spouse.

As a couple deeply passionate about advocating for strong, healthy, and God centered marriages, we have always believed in speaking up when we see stories that highlight the challenges many face. Recently, we came across the heart wrenching interview with the Nyathi family a Zimbabwean couple living, well partially in the diaspora, who opened up about their marital struggles on Tilder LIVE ZIM.

For those who have not seen it, Joy (Mai Nyathi) and Gilbert Nyathi shared their journey since marrying in 2022 in South Africa. What started as a promising union has been marred by financial strains, emotional turmoil, and infidelity on Gilbert's part. Joy, in a raw and vulnerable moment, even took some responsibility for her husbands actions, expressing the pain of betrayal while grappling with feelings that many in toxic situations experience, like self blame or what some call Stockholm Syndrome.

Hearing this story, it's impossible for us to stay silent. We advocate for marriages built on trust, respect, communication, and unwavering commitment, not ones where one partner excuses betrayal or where the victim shoulders the blame. Infidelity is a choice, not a consequence of someone elses shortcomings. Joy's courage in sharing her story is commendable, and we pray she finds the strength to prioritize her well being, seek counseling, and surround herself with supportive community.

To all couples out there, especially in the diaspora where pressures can intensify, remember, a healthy marriage thrives on mutual accountability, boundaries, and grace but never at the expense of your self respect. If you are facing similar issues, know that help is available. Reach out to trusted counselors, lean on your faith, and don't hesitate to walk away from what harms you.

Let's commit to building marriages that honor each other and reflect true love.
