What an inspiring evening, learning about all the wild bees and plants around the Castle Green. Thanks so much to Niamh from Transition Kerry, Alan from Tralee Bay Wetlands and Ger and Claire from IWT Kerry Branch for coming to Ballybunion this evening. We walked and talked and learned so much about our pollinators and their life cycle, the plants and biodiversity and their importance within our community. The icing on the cake at the very end was to find a Carder Bee. Absolutely brilliant evening

Live Stranding Response Workshop – Ballybunion

Following last year’s live dolphin stranding on Ballybunion Beach, Ballybunion Tidy Towns, in partnership with the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group (IWDG), and funded by Community Foundation Ireland is hosting a Live Stranding Response Workshop to help our community understand how to respond safely and effectively if a similar event occurs.

📅 Date: Friday, 24 July

🕕 Time: 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

📍 Location: The Olde Attic Ballybunion

The workshop will include:

* 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm: Indoor theory session covering live strandings, animal welfare, and the correct response procedures.

* 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm: Practical session on Ballybunion Beach, where participants will gain hands-on experience in responding to a live stranding scenario.

This workshop is open to anyone interested in learning more about marine mammal strandings and how to assist safely while supporting the work of trained responders.
