We’re always happy to welcome new players at Farsley Chess Club - whether you’re experienced, enjoy the occasional game, or just want to give chess a try.

We meet every Wednesday from 7pm at Deeva. The vibe is easygoing and friendly - no pressure, no egos - just great games, good company, and the bonus of some excellent Indian food.

No need to be an expert or come prepared with equipment - just show up and play! If you’ve been thinking about getting back into chess (or starting fresh), this is the perfect opportunity.

We’re always on the lookout for new faces at Farsley Chess Club - whether you’re a seasoned player, a casual blitz enthusiast, or someone who just fancies trying a new hobby.

We meet every Wednesday from 7pm onwards at Deeva. It’s a relaxed, friendly atmosphere - no pressure, no egos - just good games, good company, and the aroma of good Indian cuisine.

You don’t need to be a master, know loads of theory, or even bring a board - just turn up! If you’ve been meaning to play more chess, now is your chance.

Farsley Chess Club vs Leeds D - 14.01.26

Last night, Farsley Chess Club put forward a strong team of five to take on Leeds D at an away game in the division 3 league.

Leeds were a formidable opposing team but Farsley came out in first with a triumphant 3 to 2 point victory - a brilliant win for our first match of the year. Start as you mean to go on!

Big well done team - thanks to Dave for putting up a good fight, shout-out to Jack for braving his first league match and congrats to Rob, Waimond and Ollie for securing the result.

As usual, we meet every Wednesday, 7–10 PM at Deeva in Farsley. All abilities are welcome and we hope to see you there!

Farsley Chess Club / Farsley Boys’ Brigade & Girls’ Association – First Daytime Session!

Today, Farsley Chess Club joined together with the Farsley Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Association for a fantastic coffee morning at Farsley Community Church. This was our first-ever daytime chess session — and it was a great morning!

We were thrilled to welcome many new players of all ages, all eager to learn, play, and enjoy the game. The enthusiasm and community spirit made the morning truly special.

Farsley Chess Club vs Alwoodley - 19.11.25

Last night, Farsley Chess Club put forth a strong team of five at home to take on Alwoodley in the division 3 league.

After some twists and turns, Farsley came out in first with a triumphant 4.5 to 0.5 point victory - a major win! This lot are the real cat's pyjamas 😸

A fantastic result for the team as we continue to drive up the league table.

Farsley Chess Club vs. Leeds - 29.10.2025

Wednesday night, Farsley Chess Club fielded a strong team of three at home to take on Leeds in the Mini League.

For over two hours we fought hard but in the end, match experience proved decisive and Leeds took the win with some incredibly high rated gameplay (2500 elo according to our match report!) Unbelievable, Jeff!👏

Despite the result, we are proud of our players for stepping up to the plate and gaining valuable experience in our first season of the league. It's no easy feat!

Speaking of plates, we are very lucky to call Deeva our home which means you're never far from a consolation curry! (Or a pre-match paneer, whatever you fancy) The Afghani Chicken is the real winner in my book 😋

♟️ Farsley Chess Club: Battle of the Titans (and the Tikka!) 🍛

On a cold, dark Wednesday night 🌙, the fearless Farsley squad marched into Boston Spa to face their seasoned opponents 🧠. Five brave souls took the board — no ratings, no fear, just pure chess energy ⚔️♜.

After some epic battles (and maybe a few nervous tea breaks ☕), the night ended in a 2.5 – 2.5 draw 🤝 — our first league points of the season! 🎉

Meanwhile, back at Deeva (home of Farsley Chess Club and the finest Madras in town 🍛🔥), our Wednesday sessions are buzzing with new faces and plenty of friendly rivalry 😄♟️.
