Our meeting with speaker Lucinda Lovesey and visitors from other local WI's was a fantastic evening. After the eclipse we sat in the air conditioned village hall, which we didn't appreciate until we left at 9.30pm, when the outside temperature was still over 20C. Lucinda gave us a great overview into how the Pottery Throwdown television programme was made, her journey up to the semi final and her personal journey. She brought along all her fantastic creations made during the series, what an artistic talent. The evening was topped off with strawberries, cream & shortbread. The competition of a ceramic item was well entered. It was judged by Lucinda & won by Ruth with a pot created by her son Mark. The raffle was drawn with many prizes. Well done, Committee.

Our June meeting was a full two talks in one. The Pickwick Bicycle club, a very exclusive invitation only club. Where members are recognised for their involvement or contribution to cycling, Senior members are awarded a charter from the novel, our speaker being 'Mr Stiggins'. The second part of the talk was about Charles Dickens' life, how from modest life experiences and charters he created his novels. The competition was won by Jude, with her bicycle ornament.

Well we did have a great meeting. Joanne gave us a lovely talk on her 40s & 50's clothes, shoes and bags. They were so colourful, made from quality wool & cotton and a great fit. We had a lot of entries in the vintage jewellery competition. It was nice to see so many ladies from other local WI's. Drinks & cakes that followed, were very welcome. Also lots of raffle prize winners. Well done committee & member helpers.
