We would like to tip our helmets to Boxborough Firefighters IAFF Local 4601, last night members played each other in softball where Boxborough Fire/PD beat Acton Fire 18-17. The weather was perfect for a great night of camaraderie mixed with some slight trash talking.

Today, Group 3 reviewed the operation of our extrication tools and practiced using them with precision and control.

Naturally, we decided that regular training wasn’t quite challenging enough—so we added eggs.

The objective was simple: use the extrication tools to gently grasp an egg and relocate it without turning breakfast into a crime scene.

Some were successful. Some… were scrambled.

And then someone decided to cheat the system by sneaking in a wooden egg that absolutely refused to crack.

Good reminder that training doesn’t always have to be complicated to be effective—and apparently, Group 3 still has some work to do on egg handling.

Today, members of the Acton Fire Department’s Public Education Team had the privilege of hosting a Fire Extinguisher Demonstration and Training at this year’s Employee Development Day at NARA Park! 🚒🧯

Town employees from several departments learned about the different classes of fire, how to choose the proper extinguisher for the situation, and had the opportunity to put those skills to the test with hands-on training.

A few employees even got the chance to try on our turnout gear and experience firsthand some of the equipment firefighters wear on the job!

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the training a great success!

Precision through practice.

Today’s ladder truck cone drill focused on operator proficiency, spatial awareness, and precise aerial movement. Hands-on training like this builds the confidence and skills our firefighters need to safely operate at emergency scenes. Group 3 is on duty.

After returning from a call, L28 noticed the Acton High School swim team holding a car wash fundraiser and decided to stop and show their support.
A short time later, after returning from another call, the crew noticed a very eager young boy riding his tricycle and waving. L28 stopped to say hello and show him some love.
AFD is proud to serve our community and grateful for every opportunity to give back and connect with the people we serve.

Thank you to everyone that attended our 9/11 ceremony.
