Florida heat can become dangerous for pets in just a few minutes.

Knowing the early warning signs of heat stroke can make all the difference.

⚠️ Watch for:
• Excessive panting
• Thick drool
• Bright red gums
• Weakness or stumbling
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Glassy eyes

🚨 Seek veterinary care immediately if your pet:
• Collapses
• Has difficulty breathing
• Experiences seizures
• Becomes unresponsive

While you're on the way to the veterinary hospital, move your pet to a cool, shaded area and begin cooling them with cool (not ice-cold) water. Offer small amounts of water if they're alert, but don't force them to drink.

Heat stroke is a medical emergency—acting quickly can save your pet's life.

Stay safe, keep outdoor adventures short during peak heat, and remember: if the pavement is too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws. 💜💚

🦎🐸 Florida's wildlife is fascinating—but it isn't always pet-friendly.

For many dogs and cats, chasing lizards, frogs, and toads is just part of being curious. Unfortunately, some backyard encounters can quickly turn into a medical emergency.

⚠️ Cane toads, found throughout Florida, produce a powerful toxin that can cause:
• Excessive drooling
• Bright red gums
• Pawing at the mouth
• Vomiting
• Difficulty walking
• Seizures

Lizards, frogs, and other wildlife can also bite, carry parasites, or cause stomach upset if swallowed.

The safest approach? Keep a close eye on your pet during outdoor adventures and redirect them any time they decide local wildlife looks like a toy.

🚨 If your pet mouths or bites a cane toad, immediately rinse their mouth with running water—aiming the water out of the side of the mouth—and contact your veterinarian or the nearest emergency veterinary hospital right away.

A little supervision today can help prevent a scary emergency tomorrow. 💜💚

Florida is home to plenty of creepy crawlies—and while most bites are minor, some can become a serious problem for pets.

Keep an eye out for:
🕷️ Widow spiders
🕸️ Brown recluse spiders (rare, but possible)
🐝 Bees & wasps
🐜 Fire ants
🐛 Stinging caterpillars

Call your veterinarian if your pet has:
⚠️ Facial swelling
⚠️ Difficulty breathing
⚠️ Severe pain or limping
⚠️ Vomiting or weakness
⚠️ A bite that becomes increasingly swollen or infected

The best prevention is simple: keep your yard tidy, inspect outdoor play areas, and supervise curious noses during walks.

When in doubt, it's always safest to give your veterinarian a call. 💜💚

🌽🍔 The BBQ Might Be Safe for You… But Not for Your Pet!

Cookouts are a summer favorite, but some backyard staples can be dangerous for curious pets.

Keep these foods safely out of reach:
🌽 Corn cobs – Can cause serious intestinal blockages.
🍢 Wooden skewers – May splinter or become lodged in the mouth or stomach.
🧅 Onions – Toxic and can damage red blood cells.
🍇 Grapes & raisins – Can lead to kidney failure.
🍫 Chocolate – Contains compounds that are toxic to dogs.
🍺 Alcohol – Even small amounts can be dangerous.

The safest treat at the BBQ? One that's made just for pets! 🐾

If you think your pet has eaten something they shouldn't, contact your veterinarian right away.
