The King Island Beef Producers Group (KIBPG) has successfully secured sponsorship funding from the Tas Innovation Hub to deliver a three-day learning tour to Tasmania during the third week of August 2026.

This opportunity has been made possible through support from the TAS Farm Innovation Hub, together with significant in-kind contributions from the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture, Cradle Coast NRM, TasFarmers, Elders, Sea Forest, Incitec Pivot Limited, Greenham Tasmania, Landfall Angus, and several other contributors currently being confirmed.

We are now seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from KIBPG members interested in participating in this unique learning opportunity.
Eligibility extends to employees and family members involved in member businesses.

Places are limited to 15 participants.

The tour will provide an opportunity to learn from leading producers, researchers and industry professionals while exploring different farming systems, management practices, technologies and emerging opportunities relevant to the Tasmanian beef industry.
Participants will also attend the FarmX Conference & Expo in Deloraine.

invitation to Nutrien Presentation on ‘Soil Nutrition, Foliar Nutrition & Livestock Health’ on Tuesday June 23rd 7pm at the King Island Hotel.

Matt Hallam is an Animal Health & Nutrition Manager and Division Account Manager at Nutrien Ag Solutions Australia, specialising in livestock nutrition, drought-feeding strategies, and weaner management. He frequently tours regions in Victoria and New South Wales to advise farmers on managing feedlots, paddock feeding, and pasture challenges.

Corey Hogarth, based in Cressy, TAS, AU, is currently a Loveland Sales Manager - Tasmania and Digital Product SME at Nutrien Ag Solutions. Corey Hogarth brings experience from previous roles at Nutrien Ag Solutions and TP Jones & Co. Corey Hogarth holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Science (Hons), PhD @ University of Tasmania.

Red meat producers: $50 (exc. GST) per person (providing you attend representing your farm business, not any other organisation).
Non-producers: $300 (exc. GST) per person (a limit of 2 tickets purchased per business applies).

Information and inspiration for the Tasmanian red meat industry

There is a Farm Machinery Retrieval Session run by Safe Farming Tas on next Friday the 15/5.

The Session focuses on the hazards associated with retrieving bogged or stuck vehicles, along with the right equipment and techniques to retrieve them.

The session runs from 10am-12.30 followed by a BBQ lunch.

Stuart Beams from Safe Farming Tas will be on the island until Sunday if anyone would like a free consult for and WHS issues (stockyards, vehicles and machinery, policy etc).

Practical demo sessions on safe retrieval of bogged farm machinery, covering risks, planning, equipment, WHS and recovery techniques.

Expressions of Interest are now being accepted for Landcare funding which is currently available for on-ground Farm Dam Enhancement projects on King island that benefit biodiversity, animal health, drought resilience, reduced methane emissions and catchment health.

EOI close Monday, the 08th of June, 2026 so now is the time to action this. There is also a workshop planned to be held on King Island on 20 May & this will be mentioned on the day.

On Thursday 30 April King Island producers are invited to a Virtual Fencing Producer Day, bringing together research insights and real-world producer experience.

Hear from Penny Schulz on the Southern Beef Project, and Megan Verdon with an introduction to virtual fencing and its development. We’ll also share an update from the King Island trial and hear from Tasmanian producers using the technology.
