KGCC Finish It Challenge
Summer of 2025
It happens to all of us. We see a pattern we love, buy a yarn that we can’t live without, and get
all excited about making a (fill in the blank) project. After we cast on and invest a few weeks
knitting, we get distracted by the next shiny thing, and put the first project on hold while we
attack the new one. As a result, we start to accumulate UFOs, UnFinishedObjects. Argh!
There’s guilt and a shortage of bin storage, a closet full of avalanching bags, even (horrors!)
the threat of encroaching yarn munching pests. KGCC to the rescue!
This summer, the KGCC is going to help you shovel yourself out by holding an incentive
competition for our members to get us all to dig down, and finishing these pesky UFOs.
Starting on May 15th and going through August 15, finishing anything UFO-related, big or
small, ancient or recent will count towards the two prizes that will be awarded at our
September meeting.
Here are the rules
1. It doesn’t matter when you started the UFO as long as you finish it between 5/15 and 8/15.
2. You must document your finished project by writing a few sentences that include:
• the approximate start date even though it doesn’t matter for the contest (because we’re
curious and … ahem … nosy)
• the yardage of the yarn used in the entire project (bonus having an almost finished sweater
sitting in a pile under the bed that you finally finish)
• and a picture of the finished item.
• You can also say something about what you’ll be doing with itafterwards and other types of
chatty stuff, but this is not required.
3. Share your finished project(s) with us by:
• posting your project(s) to Instagram and tagging them with
• posting a comment, with the required details and photos, to the KGCC Finish It Challenge
thread on the KGCC page. Don’t forget to include the tag.
• posting your project(s) and required details in the Summer 2025 KGCC Finish It Challenge
thread in the KGCC Ravelry Group
• sending us an email with the required details and tags, at [email protected]
• your project may be included in the newsletter or on the Members website.
4. Frogging a project isn’t counted as a finished project. But we feel your pain.
One gift certificate prize of $25 will be awarded to the member who finished the most numbers
of UFOs. A second gift certificate prize of $25 will be awarded to the member who used the
most yardage in the UFOs they finished. (Remember, this yardage includes all of the project’s
yardage, not just what was knitted or crocheted within the contest dates.) The contest is based
on the honor system, so there will be no checks on yardage counts.
Can’t wait to see what you make, and hear the stories about your projects. And, if you are so
inclined, feel free to bring all or some of them to the September meeting when the prizes will be
awarded
