We, in Keelogues Heritage Group would like to join in the tributes to the late Noel Burke and extend our sincerest sympathy to Mary, Brian, Naoise, Dierdre, Rìona and all the family.
Noel was endowed with a deep sense of place but he didn't do nostalgia. He was central to so many initiatives that will serve our local community for generations to come. In the 1980's he realised the importance to preserving our local heritage and was instrumental in documenting the great knowledge of the late Mary O'Brien with the publication of "Keelogues - A Parish History." We were delighted to have Noel back to launch the reprint of the book a few years back. Copies of the book were presented recently to Ballyvary School so that a new generation will learn to grow up also with a 'deep sense of place' It is perhaps no surprise, given Noels sense of community, of people working together as a team that he took up bee-keeping in recent years. He leaves a rich legacy. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
