On October 10, 2020, we are hosting a virtual leadership conference for high school students in the San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura County Areas to network and gain meaningful leadership and team-building skills. At this conference, students will cultivate skills that are essential to the success of personal and group projects, such as team building techniques, presentation skills, meeting skills, and project planning. This conference will prepare them for any leadership position and broaden their horizons. Walking away from the conference, students will be an efficient, effective, and empowered leaders.

Since its founding in 1947 by the CA Department of Education, CASC has fostered social-mindfulness in the youth and have equipped over 250,000 students from 8 different countries with necessary leadership skills. In doing so, CASC strives to empower students and make their voices be heard. CASC also provides students with amazing opportunities to become involved in the California legislative system, such as proposing bills to the State Senate and Assembly. Since 2012, six pieces of legislation written by CASC Leaders have been signed into law by the California state Governor.

Welcome to the page for Region 7 of the California Association of Student Councils!

CASC is a student-run, student-led 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to student leadership and advocacy. The organization has been training student leaders since its founding in 1947 by the California Department of Education and has since enjoyed success on a global scale. For instance, in 1987 CASC student leaders developed “Agenda for the 21st Century.” The document was presented directly to Presidents Gorbachev and Reagan and led to the first youth exchange program between the US and the Soviet Union. Since 1990, CASC student leaders have staffed the UN Earth Summit and two State of the World Forums as well as trained staff in South Africa, Japan, Russia, Pakistan, and the UK. CASC student leaders have also written six pieces of legislation that have been signed into law by the governor of California since 2012.

CASC works to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to create change in our communities. In doing so, we empower students to make sure their voices are heard, as well as present them with the unique opportunity to enact real, legislative change at the state level. CASC is an amazing student-led, student-run organization that fosters strong leadership skills and social-mindfulness in youth to create civic-minded citizens by the time they turn 18.
