Ever wonder what the Friends of West Tennessee National Wildlife Refuges group does? The Friends of West Tennessee National Wildlife Refuges is a diverse group of people who promote an appreciation of the natural environment of West Tennesse and, in particular, the West Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge Complex. Take a look at our current newsletter which highlights some of our recent events. We are always looking for new members and would love to have you join us! If this sounds like something you’d like to be a part of, please print and fill out the membership form below! Mail it in or drop it by th office at 4343 Hwy 157, Union City TN 38261. What a fun program! Thank you to Dawn Wilkins and Mark Greene for leading this bird program and hike. A variety of birds were heard and viewed, and a lot of information about Merlin and especially eBird was discovered! We hope to do birding programs more often so we can have more eBird entries around the Reelfoot Lake area. Thanks to all who came!

Come birding with us on Saturday, June 20th at the Reelfoot NWR! Mark Greene, compiler of eBird and member of the TN Ornithological Society, along with Dawn Wilkins, Ornithology Professor at UTM, will be telling us about the Merlin app and eBird! We will go birding afterward. Come to 4343 Hwy 157, Union City TN from 9am-11am to join in on the festivities. No charge but donations for our Friends Group are welcomed and much appreciated. Comment below in the original post if you plan on attending! Don’t forget your binoculars!

Congrats to Ashley Lawrence on her First Place photo of this beautiful Barred owl! Ashley took this photo during one of our Eagle Tours this past winter. Thanks Ashley for participating in this contest. She received a first place ribbon, a Friends of West TN t-shirt and a Friends sticker. We will have 4 photo contests per year, one per season.
