From Policy to Practice!

ELPAK National and chapter leaders from Mombasa, Kwale, Nairobi, Kisumu, Siaya, Bondo, Nakuru and Kakamega met this week to kick off the next phase of our British Council-supported CBE implementation journey.
Chapter leads walked away with a clear roadmap for implementation plus rich insights on Evergreen Themes and Climate Action from Ishmael Khadija, who left the room with a line that stuck:
"Don't add climate action into the curriculum. Find the climate connection already inside the curriculum." — Ishmael Khadija
Great energy in the room, and even better conversations on turning curriculum ideas into real classroom practice.
Resources shared came from the British Council's TeachingEnglish platform:

Creating inclusive classrooms starts with thoughtful lesson planning. Join Mary Akinyi Tago for an interactive TeachingEnglish webinar exploring how teachers can design gender-responsive English language lesson plans that support equity, inclusion and meaningful learner participation.

In this practical session, you'll discover ways to use inclusive materials, classroom activities, assessment approaches and interaction patterns to create learning environments where all learners can thrive. You'll also explore context-sensitive strategies for challenging gender stereotypes while successfully meeting curriculum objectives.

Whether you're teaching primary, secondary or adult learners, you'll leave with practical ideas that you can adapt and apply in your own classroom straight away.
