Loneliness is going around, and itโs having a pretty big impact.
This time of year can be extremely lonely and not just for those who are on their own.
Sometimes being around friends and family can still create a feeling of loneliness. Often being in the presence of, or seeing others happy can leave you with a sense of 'somethings missing in your life'.
So how can we avoid these feelings coming to fruition:
1. ๐๐ถ๐น๐น ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ต๐ผ๐๐๐ฒ/๐๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฑ - Sound helps fill the space in your environment and thoughts, making it less overwhelming.
2. ๐ฆ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐ป๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ - Sometimes a quick text can seem like the easiest way to connect, but donโt underestimate the power of hearing a loved oneโs voice. Even a 10-minute call can help ease loneliness โ for you and them.
3. ๐ง๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ ๐ฎ ๐ฏ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ธ ๐ณ๐ฟ๐ผ๐บ ๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฎ - While social media often seems like an appealing way to maintain connections with loved ones, it can sometimes increase feelings of loneliness. Seeing others posts and stories can make it feel worse so don't get suckered into an endless scroll through Facebook or Instagram.
4. ๐ง๐ฎ๐น๐ธ ๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ผ๐๐ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด๐ - Emotions tend to gather under the surface and intensify when they go unacknowledged. Expressing your feelings, however, you feel best suits you (journal, diary, talk to friends or family).
