This is why community members need to attend community meetings! A hand full of people stated they wanted resource officers out of schools. When the resource officers at East saved me from a jail sentence! Saved my brother from abuse of a white officer! Saved my sister from what could have been a life of crime! Not all police are bad now look at this unfortunate situation. While I am sad for the deans who were hurt, I wonder what help or resources were offered to this young man. What support system did he have in his life to feel this was his only option?💔 We as community matter to every black & brown boy & girl! Our voice, our support, our love; it matters!

So the kids are traumatized and you ask them to relive the moment of fear on camera. Have we sent victim advocates to the houses individually or even the school? Like a mental health day was definitely much appreciated but the buck doesn't stop there! This could affect the trajectory of every kid that attended east this year not to mention some may be going home to worse situations with all of this on their mind. I do understand getting the story out there is important but don't let the obligation for our students go unchecked! These babies need healing and they need to know they can lean on us for it❤️

Normalize going to therapy to address your trauma. Let your kids know it's okay to have an outlet outside of you if they need it!
