In honor of International Women's Day, we want to highlight the legend, Ann Richards — the last Democrat to win a state wide race in Texas, 31 years ago.

Ann studied the great leaders of Texas, and became one herself. If Democrats would like to start winning Texas again, we suggest they do the same.

“I'm really glad that our young people missed the Depression, and missed the great big war. But I do regret that they missed the leaders that I knew. Leaders who told us when things were tough, and that we would have to sacrifice, and these difficulties might last awhile. [1988 keynote address, Democratic National Convention]” — Ann Richards

Happy National Texas Day!

Today, marks the 15th anniversary of the death of Coretta Scott King, widow of the great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

In this image, she stands with Cesar singing "We Shall Overcome" in 1972 while visiting him during his 24-day fast in Phoenix, Arizona. The fast followed passage in Arizona of a law outlawing farmworker strikes and boycotts in that state.
