On 27th July, 2023, MICDAK Together with JSI organized a workshop at Goaso Zeniel Oasis hotel . This workshop seeks to address issues of Gender based and intimate partner violence, gender norms that act as barriers for reducing HIV risk and achieving the UNAIDS 95/95/95 goals among priority population in the Western /Western North and Ahafo Regions of Ghana.
The participants of this workshop were Queen mothers , Assembly members and influential members in our communities from Aowin , Bodi , Juaboso and Sefwi Wiawso districts .
In addition, Gender support group was formed to support this project . The aim of the gender support group is way of helping to sustain the project after the close of FY23.
GBV is largely experienced as violence against women , it can also afffect all people including key population. Many people go through gender based violence such Sexual violence( which results in miscarriages, unwanted pregnancies, unsafe abortion, s*xually transmitted infections ), physical violence (kicking , hitting etc) psychological violence ,economic violence and so on.
The gender support group that was formed came out with a sustainable plan to achieve and reduce gender based and intimate partner violence now and at the end of the project . The project comes to an end in September 2023 and therefore it is very paramount to forms such support group.
