Seth and his family had the best night at the Edmonton Oilers game on Saturday, all thanks to our Ben’s Buddies program and a generous donation of tickets from Boston Pizza Northern Alberta.

Ben’s Buddies creates moments just like this: giving kids and families facing tough medical journeys the chance to step away from hospital rooms and appointments and experience joy, connection, and a little magic. These outings aren’t just “a night out.” They’re memories, confidence boosts, and reminders that the community is standing with them.

If you’d like to help create more moments like this, we’re always grateful for donated tickets to games, concerts, and local activities. Your generosity directly supports families who need a break, a smile, and something to look forward to.

To donate tickets or learn more, reach out to [email protected].

Together, we can keep building these moments of joy for our Ben’s Buddies families.

It’s Magic Monday, and today we’re celebrating Matteo!

Last weekend, this 7‑year‑old and his family travelled from Saskatchewan for a Magical Experience at West Edmonton Mall — a chance to pause and spend uninterrupted family time together.

Matteo splashed through the Waterpark, rode his favourite attractions at Galaxyland, went to a movie, and picked out a few special things while shopping with his family. For families navigating childhood cancer, these moments become rare pockets of joy, normalcy, and connection.

To make their stay feel comforting from the very first minute, our team decorated Matteo’s room with some of his favourite things — including a custom Sonic‑the‑Hedgehog cake from Teresa Cakes. Those thoughtful touches help families feel welcomed, supported, and wrapped in care throughout their experience.

Thank you to our donors and supporters for making experiences like this possible. Your generosity gives families the chance to laugh, recharge, and make memories they’ll carry with them long after the weekend ends.

When you sign up for Ben’s Cup, you’re doing more than joining a hockey tournament - you’re helping bring proton beam therapy to Canada.

Proton beam therapy is one of the most precise, life‑changing cancer treatments in the world, and right now Canadian kids have to travel far from home to access it. Your registration helps change that.

Every player. Every team. Every dollar. All pushing us closer to building Canada’s first proton therapy centre and giving kids the care they deserve, right here in Edmonton.

Play for a purpose. Play for our kids. Register today at www.benscup.com.

A few of our Ben’s Buddies had an incredible night this week thanks to the generosity of Genics, who donated a private suite for the kids to watch the Edmonton Oilers game.

Between the cheering, the snacks, and the excitement on the ice, the real highlight was watching our Buddies connect — laughing together, sharing stories, and building the kind of friendships this program was created to spark.

Ben’s Buddies is our newly launched program that brings children with cancer together through meaningful activities, peer connection, and moments of joy. Whether it’s a big outing like an Oilers game or a simple craft day, every experience helps create community and confidence.

A huge thank you to Genics for making this special night possible and for helping us create memories that truly matter.

Ben’s Buddies adventures are just getting started!

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour Survivors, their families, and the children who never made it home. We also recognize the strength and resilience of Indigenous communities, whose voices guide the path toward healing.

At the Ben Stelter Foundation, we believe in lifting up every child with dignity, care, and love - and today reminds us of the responsibility we all share to build a future where every child is safe, supported, and celebrated.

We encourage our community to learn, listen, and take meaningful steps toward reconciliation - today, and every day.

When music brings people together, magic happens.

GEDFest YEG began as a national tribute to Gord Downie — a celebration of compassion, community, and the belief that music can move people to do good. Over the years, it’s grown into one of Edmonton’s most heartfelt rock‑and‑roll fundraisers, powered entirely by volunteers, local musicians, and people who show up because they care.

This year, GEDFest is supporting our work at the Ben Stelter Foundation, helping us bring comfort, joy, and connection to families facing childhood cancer. Through Magical Experiences, medical equipment support, and our mission to bring Proton Therapy to Canada, we’re working to change the childhood cancer journey for families today — and for generations to come.

Join us October 17 at the Pawn Shop for a night that hits different. Every ticket helps fund Hospital Boxes — thoughtfully curated care packages that bring warmth, distraction, and a sense of normalcy to kids navigating cancer.

Good music. Real impact.

Many people ask what makes the Ben Stelter Foundation unique within the childhood cancer community, and the answer comes directly from the needs families and hospital teams have shared with us.

The Ben Stelter Foundation was created to support important gaps in care. Our Medical Equipment Program is the first of its kind at the Stollery, BC Children’s Hospital, Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital, and Alberta Children’s Hospital, collaborating with oncology teams to provide essential equipment that isn’t covered by the health care system.

No local charities were able to provide or fund the equipment Ben needed during treatment — and that’s exactly what inspired this program.

Families also tell us they’re looking for more opportunities to connect with others who understand their journey, in addition to what already exists in the childhood cancer community. Creating those meaningful moments of connection is becoming an important part of our mission.

Another example of our unique work is our leadership in bringing proton therapy to Canada — a treatment option that doesn’t yet exist in the country and will change what’s possible for kids who need more precise radiation.

These are just a few ways we’re filling critical gaps and complementing the broader childhood cancer community, ensuring families receive support they can’t easily access elsewhere.

Yesterday’s EPA Blues Golf Tournament brought together current and retired Edmonton Police Service officers who traded their uniforms for golf clubs — proving that their commitment to this community doesn’t stop at the end of a shift. On duty, they keep our city safe. Off duty, they stand with children and families facing childhood cancer, raising vital funds for the Ben Stelter Foundation.

A huge thank you to Firehouse Subs for partnering with us and keeping our golfers fuelled with delicious snacks throughout the day.

Grateful for every swing, every smile, and every dollar raised to support kids and families who need it most.
