Multifactor Authentication
A stolen password should not be all it takes to access your account.
This week for Cybersecurity Awareness Month, MHSN is focusing on multifactor authentication, or MFA.
MFA adds another layer of protection when passwords are stolen, guessed, or exposed.
Protect yourself by:
• Turning on MFA whenever it is available
• Using authenticator apps or biometrics when possible
• Never approving a login request you did not initiate
• Continuing to use unique passwords even when MFA is enabled
For MHSN member health centers, the weekly tips are also building toward a little internal Cybersecurity Awareness Month competition later this month.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and awareness begins with a conversation.

Community Health Centers and FQHCs are often the first place patients turn for preventive care, trusted health information, and guidance about recommended screenings.

This month, encourage patients, family members, friends, and coworkers to talk with their healthcare provider about breast cancer risk, family history, and when screening may be appropriate.

For health centers, every conversation is an opportunity to educate, identify risk, and connect patients with the care they need.

Pink with Purpose: Start the conversation. Take the next step.

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and MHSN is kicking things off with one of the simplest ways to make life harder for cybercriminals: stronger passwords.

A few smart habits can make a big difference:
• Use passwords that are at least 16 characters long
• Make every password unique
• Avoid predictable names, dates, and patterns
• Use a password manager when appropriate
One reused password can open more doors than you think.

Throughout October, MHSN will be sharing practical cybersecurity reminders to help health centers protect patient information, organizational data, and the systems they rely on every day.

Mississippi Health Safe Net is proud to be represented at the Tennessee Primary Care Association 2026 Conference.
Our Director of Training and Quality, Michael T Edwards, will present: P.A.V.E. the Way to Quality: Prioritize, Align, Validate, Execute.

This session will explore a practical framework for helping community health centers move beyond simply collecting and reporting data, and instead use it to drive meaningful quality improvement.

Through the P.A.V.E. framework, participants will consider how to:
-Prioritize the opportunities that require attention
-Align data, workflows, and organizational goals
-Validate the accuracy and reliability of the information
-Execute focused strategies that lead to measurable improvement

At MHSN, we know that accurate, actionable data is foundational to high-quality care, population health, and value-based performance.

We are pleased to have Michael representing Mississippi and sharing lessons, strategies, and experiences with health center colleagues across Tennessee.

Thank you to the Tennessee Primary Care Association for the invitation and the opportunity to contribute to this year’s conference.

We’re a day late, but the appreciation is still well deserved!

Yesterday was National IT Professionals Day, a time to recognize the people who keep our systems connected, secure, and running.

For Community Health Centers, IT professionals support much more than computers. They help keep EHRs, networks, cybersecurity, interfaces, data systems, and the technology behind patient care working every day.

Mississippi Health Safe Net is proud to recognize the IT professionals serving FQHCs across Mississippi. Thank you for supporting our care teams, protecting our systems, and helping health centers stay connected to the patients and communities they serve.

Happy National IT Professionals Day!

Director of Training and Quality represented MISSISSIPPI HEALTH SAFE NET yesterday at the 2026 SCPHCA Clinical Network Retreat hosted by the South Carolina Primary Health Care Association.

I had the privilege of presenting “P.A.V.E. the Way to Quality: Prioritize, Align, Validate, Execute,” a session focused on practical strategies for strengthening data hygiene, improving UDS performance, identifying meaningful trends, and turning data into action that supports quality improvement and value-based care success.

The session was exceptionally well attended, and I truly appreciated the engagement, thoughtful discussions, and positive feedback from participants. It was encouraging to see so many Community Health Center leaders and staff committed to using data more effectively to improve patient care and organizational performance.

Thank you to the South Carolina Primary Health Care Association for the invitation and to everyone who attended, shared ideas, and contributed to the conversation.

Together, we continue to strengthen the foundation for better data, better decisions, and better outcomes.
