A Lion Cub Called Elsa “Crocodiles are easy. They try to kill and eat you. People are harder. Sometimes they pretend to be your friend first.” - Steve Irwin

George Adamson, also known as the "Baba ya Simba
(father of lions in Swahili) was a British wildlife
conservationist and author. He and his wife Joy Adamson
are best known through the movie BORN FREE and best
selling book with the same title, which is based on the true story of ELSA THE LIONESS,an orphaned lioness cub they raised and later released into the wild. This page is dedicated to all enda

ngered species!!! ABOUT ELSA
Elsa the lioness(January 1956-January 1961) was raised by the Adamsons in Kenya. Elsa and her two sisters had become orphaned when George Adamson was reluctantly forced to kill their mother. Her two sisters were sent to the Rotterdam Zoo,while Elsa herself remained with the Adamsons until she was released into the wild. When Elsa was three years old,she brought three cubs of her own to show to the Adamsons. Elsa's life was cut short in early 1961 when she became sick from B.Felis and died. Her grave is located in the Mery National Park. After Elsa's death and the release of her cubs,Adamson adopted a young cheetah,PIPPA,who had been the house pet of a British officer.Pippa was also trained to survive in the wild.Pippa's story is told in Adamson's The Spotted Sphinx. On January 3,1980 Joy Adamson was murdered. She had specified in her will that her ashes be buried in Elsa's and Pippa's graves. Her husband did just that. On August 20,1989 George was also killed in the Kenyan wilderness. If a group of beings from another planet were to land on Earth - beings who considered themselves as superior to you as you feel yourself to be to other animals - would you concede them the rights over you that you assume over other animals? ~Attributed to George Bernard Shaw

I met Dr Goodall back in 2011,feel lucky and honoured, she will be missed from many, humans and no-humans ,no words can describe the emptyness she leaves behind...
But her legacy will continue to light our lives!

With great sadness, the Jane Goodall Institute confirmed this morning the passing of the organization’s founder, Dr. Jane Goodall, age 91 who died peacefully in her sleep while in Los Angeles, CA for her speaking tour in the United States.
Dr. Goodall’s life and work not only made an indelible mark on our understanding of chimpanzees and other species, but also of humankind and the environments we all share. She inspired curiosity, hope and compassion in countless people around the world, and paved the way for many others — particularly young people who gave her hope for the future.
In 1960 Dr. Goodall established the longest running wild chimpanzee study in Gombe National Park, Tanzania which continues to this day. She pioneered and sustained the Jane Goodall Institute’s community-centered conservation initiatives across the chimpanzee range for over four decades. Her legacy includes the creation of JGI’s international environmental and humanitarian youth program Roots & Shoots, which is actively driving change in 75 countries and counting around the world.
The Jane Goodall Institute is incredibly grateful to all our supporters, partners, and friends, especially during this difficult time. To add a personal remembrance of Dr. Goodall and continue her legacy for future generations, please visit JaneGoodall.org/RememberingJane

Urgent Action Needed! 🚨

(Greek translation below)

We have been notified by the Dolphin Project that a permit has been submitted to transport up to five bottlenose dolphins from Attica Zoological Park in Athens to an aquarium in Florida, where they would be confined in concrete tanks and exploited for public shows once again. 😢

Not only is this transport risky, but there's a much more humane alternative: these dolphins could be relocated to a retirement facility on the Greek islands of Lipsi or Crete, where they can live in peace and dignity.

The public comment period is open until February 3, 2025.

Please take a moment to voice your opposition to this transfer and help protect these dolphins! 🐬
