What happens when learning feels like play? 📚✨

For Rebecca, a Right To Play-trained teacher in Ghana’s Ahafo Region, the difference is visible in the classroom.

Through play-based learning, she sees children participating more actively, understanding lessons better and growing in confidence. She even sees children who are out of school becoming interested in joining after seeing the activities.

Should cocoa grow at the cost of forests? 🌳
Our answer is clear: no.

At the Cocoa Horizons Foundation, we’re working towards a traceable and deforestation-free cocoa supply chain.

Today, 95% of the farms in the program have been demonstrated not contribute to deforestation. Alongside this, we continue to invest in forest protection, agroforestry and shade management across cocoa-growing landscapes. 🌱

And what about the remaining 5%? We are working on it. Because there is always more to do.

Chocolate can create impact in many ways. 💗🍫

At the Cocoa Horizons Foundation, we’re proud to work with brands that not only support cocoa farmers and their communities, but also use chocolate to support meaningful initiatives closer to home.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is supporting PINK CHOCO: 16 chocolatiers across Switzerland created a pink praline with CARMA chocolate bringing together 16 unique creations in one box. 🎀

All proceeds will be donated to Pink Ribbon Schweiz and Femmes Courage, supporting their work around breast cancer.

From cocoa-growing communities to local initiatives, we’re proud to see chocolate being used to support people and communities. 💗

Back to school is an exciting first day. 📚✨

In five cocoa-growing communities in Nigeria, around 1,000 vulnerable children were supported to enroll in school. But getting children back to school is only the beginning.

Teachers, families and Community Child Protection Committees work together to monitor attendance and identify early signs of absenteeism, helping children stay connected to education.

Together with the Cocoa Horizons Foundation is supporting communities to create safer, more protective learning environments where children can stay, learn and grow.

Education is not just about getting through the school gate. It’s about helping children stay, learn and thrive.

Protecting children takes a community. 🌱

In five cocoa-growing communities in Nigeria, the Cocoa Horizons Foundation and are strengthening local child protection systems through the Community-Led Evidence Collection and Action (CLECA) approach.

CLECA puts children at the center: they help identify protection concerns, while children, teachers, parents and community leaders work together to find solutions and take action. Local savings groups also help mobilize resources for urgent child protection and education needs.

And that action is already visible: from improving school safety and access to clean water to installing solar lamps in unsafe areas, constructing speed barriers and raising awareness around child protection.

By building on existing community structures, CLECA helps create locally owned systems that can continue protecting children over time.

🌱 Sometimes, the trees cocoa farms need are already there.

Trees that regenerate naturally on cocoa farms can grow faster, store more carbon and develop stronger root systems. Because they grow where they naturally belong, they can also be better adapted to local conditions.

That’s why Assisted Natural Regeneration (ANR) is an important part of the agroforestry approach of the Cocoa Horizons Foundation.

The Foundation helps farmers identify, protect and manage the trees already growing naturally on their farms. 🌳
