🚨 REDONDO RESIDENTS: Don't let the City Council bundle the BCHD vote!
Before the July 7 City Council meeting, we need to flood our representatives' inboxes with one clear message: Separate the BCHD/Sunrise project from the General Plan ballot measure.
What's happening:
Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) wants to build a massive, oversized senior living complex on Prospect Avenue. They want a Floor Area Ratio (FAR) of 1.25, which is way above the 0.75 limit neighbors and the Planning Commission have fought for.
The political shell game:
Instead of letting us vote on this massive expansion on its own, some on the City Council want to bury this specific density change inside the massive November 2026 General Plan ballot measure.
By bundling them together, they make it impossible to vote "No" on the BCHD project without voting down the entire city General Plan. This is a direct attempt to circumvent voters who already said no to giving BCHD more funding. BCHD is looking out for its own interests, not the residents
The impact on our neighborhood:
Evictions: Roughly 100 vulnerable memory-care residents at Silverado are being displaced from their homes to clear the site.
Strain on resources: A project of this size will worsen traffic and could add up to $1 million a year in local paramedic and emergency-response costs.
👉 WHAT YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW:
Email the Mayor and City Council before July 7. Tell them: Separate the BCHD project. Let Redondo residents vote on it on its own merits.
