Beautification Warriors in Action! 🌻🍁

Fall has arrived, and while the leaves are putting on a show, our Beautification Warriors are hard at work preparing downtown for winter! 🍂🪴

A huge thank-you to Shelly Tolsdorf, Councilman Andy Zick, and Mayor Jeff Brands for spending the day grooming planters, cleaning up flower beds, and making sure our downtown stays beautiful year-round.

Please join the Durand Beautifcation Project clean up for fall. We could use everyones help.

Big thanks to volunteers like David O’Bryant, Jeff Brands, Lori Childs, Mike Nazarian and others who help keep Durand’s Edible Landscape thriving! 🌿👨‍🌾

Take a stroll from Union Station Smokehouse to the Durand Schools Administration Building and you’ll find fresh produce growing right in our downtown planters — beans, cucumbers, green tomatoes, green peppers, herbs, and more! 🍅🌶️🥒

Remember your grandparents talking about fried green tomatoes? 🧓🍽️ Now’s the time to give them a try — there are plenty on the vine! The jalapeños are nearly ripe, and the green peppers range from baby-sized to ready-to-pick.

Don’t let this beautiful produce go to waste — it’s there for you to enjoy, free of charge! 💚🥗

Several people have noticed the amazing aroma coming from the 🌿 Blue Cross Complete of Michigan raised bed next to the Durand Memorial Library — and it’s no wonder! The herbs are ready for picking, including rosemary, oregano, basil, and lemongrass 🌱✨ Perfect for soups, sauces, salsas, or drying for later use 🍲🌶️

We invite you to harvest some for yourself or share with a friend 🤗 Durand’s edible landscape is here for everyone to enjoy — and it’s completely free! 💚

This why our volunteers do what they do!

🥒✨ Look at these beautiful cukes from the Edible Landscape! ✨🥒

The planters downtown — including those in front of Union Station Smokehouse, next to the library, and scattered throughout the area — are producing more veggies and herbs every single day! 🌿🍅🌼

And guess what? They’re there for YOU to enjoy.
✅ Healthy
✅ Pesticide-free
✅ Planted with love
✅ And did we mention… totally FREE?

So grab a bag, take a stroll, and load up on some fresh goodness. 👜💚
Your salad (and your taste buds) will thank you!
