๐ƒ๐š๐ฒ ๐Ÿ: ๐‘พ๐’‰๐’ ๐‘ฉ๐’–๐’Š๐’๐’…๐’” -๐‘ช๐’๐’Ž๐’Ž๐’–๐’๐’Š๐’•๐’š ๐‘ช๐’“๐’†๐’‚๐’•๐’†๐’… of ๐’๐ฉ๐š๐œ๐ž๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐‚๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ at was a Saturday night to remember. The evening began with platform performances from the neighbourhood's young and emerging talents, little girls from Behala dance's schools, a young boy whose "Ganesh Vardana" was beautiful to Poulami whose intepretations of two very popular songs were received with admiration.

Visitors to the hub ranged from little girls who would cycle in the neighbourhood's lanes everyday while the hub was being created to people who saw stenciled on Behala's walls. Further afar, Ariba from Jaipur who happened to be in the city for the weekend, chose to spend it with us.

The day's centrepiece was 's piece "Meepao" with the NAF dancers. This was an experience that was raw and meditative - a call from living souls to those who've passed on and a desire to connect with them even in the afterlife. Thombi's skilled rotation of the bamboo pole was awe inspiring along with the group's guttural shouts formed the raw primitive energy that charecterised the peformance. Santanu DJed and played live music - a complete sonic treat. And this energetic piece ended on a high with the dancers inviting audience members to join them in celebrating the departed.

The performance was followed by an adda on those unseen, unsung heroes who make the city come alive during Durga Pujo and keep it moving through other days in the year.

Day 1 of opened with a a thunderous bang!

The para pujo'r maat in Behala was transformed into a temporary hub, reverberating with community spirit, warmth, bonhomie, art, sustainable installations, platform performances from Behala's residents... whose centrepiece was 's enthralling performance called 'Mayahamaya' and an adda that followed moderated by with , and on the genesis of Durga pujo in Behala Nuton Dol, the inordinately skilled sculptors, technicians and artisans who construct these awe-inspiring structures, the crucial contribution of women from the community who oversee the ex*****on and management the para pujos and the thought that goes into making our pandals as environmentally sustainable as possible.

Onto Day 2 today with followed by a post-show discussion and adda on the skilled workers of Durga Puja & beyond,
