We provide spay and neuter for outdoor cats in Kent County MI. Mission Statement of Feral Cat Solutions
The mission of Feral Cat Solutions is to work with compassionate individuals, local government, and other volunteers/community members to achieve population decline of unaltered, free roaming, feral, and or abandoned domesticated cats in our area thru education and the use of a humane technique known as trap neuter return. Feral Cat Solutions will place friendly cats found not to be thriving outdoors in adoption programs when appropriate to minimize suffering.

This is so impressive. I wish we could do something like this here.

This is so impressive. I wish we could do something like this here.

Did you know....

It is against the ordinance to have an unaltered female cat/dog AND an unaltered male cat/dog in the same house. Example: you can not have a male dog & female dog (same species) in the same residence if one of them is not fixed. There is no breeding allowed in Eastpointe. We have a zero tolerance policy for animal ordinance violations.

You may remember the lactating French Bulldog on the left in the photo who was found on 8/31/26. An unaltered male French Bulldog (on the right) was later discovered.

Educational and warning purposes: if your pet is found in conditions in which violate any of our animal ordinance, we are not obligated to return your pet to you. This also includes pets who wonder into the city of Eastpointe. You will be given citations for criminal charges and we will seek custody of your pet(s) through a forfeiture hearing. At the forfeiture hearing, the judge will decide who gains custody of your pet.

On the day of these two forfeiture hearing, the owners did agree to surrender both breeding dogs to EAC. They are still awaiting court for their criminal charges. Both dogs have been transferred to a rescue partner (who will not be named for their safety) for their adoption process. They are off for sterilization and a new lease on life.

Both of these dogs were also connected to another French Bulldog who was brought in a "stray" who was suffering from pyometra. Pyometra is life-threatening and deadly if it goes without emergency surgery. Criminal charges were also issued for that incident as well.

Our goal is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pets and our residents. We will not apologize for our actions if it means knowing your pet(s) have a better, healthier, and safer life. Protecting the voiceless is what our career was made for 🫶🐾.

Breeds we have gained custody of from breeding violations: (some breeds have been found more than one incident)

▪️French Bulldog
▪️Chihuahua
▪️Pitbull
▪️Yorkshire Terrier
▪️Presa Canario
▪️Doberman
▪️Maltese
▪️Poodle
▪️Small breed mixes
▪️Mini Goldendoodle
▪️Pomeranian
▪️Rottweiler
▪️German Shepherd
▪️Husky

We have some fabulous FIV+ felines waiting to be adopted!! 🙀 These kitties have been overlooked due to their FIV+ status, but we want to educate and let people know that this isn’t a death sentence, and in most cases not even an issue!!

💕 Many people are hesitant to adopt FIV+ cats, thinking they could “infect” their other pets or that they don’t live long. This is NOT TRUE! 🙀 Sadly, FIV+ cats wait longer to be adopted 😿Let’s give these sweet cats the homes they deserve!

We need 30 more of these tubs to make cat shelters for our distribution on October 24. They are sold by Walmart in a four pack. They’re about eight dollars apiece. If anyone is able to assist us in getting 30 more of these tubs, we would be very appreciative. They are nice and large and I like this new color that they are making them in. It will make a wonderful camouflage cat shelter for winter. If anyone needs the address to have some of them shipped to us from Walmart they do ship for free you can text me at 951-852-7063.

FOSTER FOUND:)

We sure could use a couple more fosters. We are hoping to be coming to the end of Kitten season. We do have litter still coming in every day. If you are able to foster a litter of Kittens and help us get them socialize so they can go into an adoption program please reach out by text. My phone number is 951-852-7063. With the help of folks in the community we have been able to move 1045 Kittens as I’ve last week from the outdoor environment into adoption programs. Thank you all for helping and supporting our work. The goal here is to reduce suffering. We are hoping it helps one kitten at a time.

Thanks, Matthew Bierlein - State Representative for introducing a bill designating shelter pets as Michigan's official pet. He got the idea from 4th graders in his district. Similar bills have been introduced at least twice before. In May 2021, Rep. Padma Kuppa was our guest on and talked about her bill; her predecessor had introduced a bill after hearing from school children as well. We think should listen to the kids!

It’s getting close to time to make kitty shelters! Use Saturday as a day to refresh current shelters. Clean out wet, moldy straw, wipe down, if needed, and load up with some fresh straw. Check the overall integrity of the shelter to make sure there are not any holes or cracks which is allowing moisture in. If there is, it may be time to retire it and get something new.

We need as many of these items as we can get for our winter shelter distribution this year. We also need bales of clean dry straw. If anyone is able to contribute these items, you can text me at 951-852-7063 for the address to drop off. Our first distribution of cold weather shelters will be on October 24 in the parking lot at the Kent County Animal shelter. The shelters will be a $10 donation. We will have complementary straw in large garbage bags for free that people can refresh their shelters with new straw. If anyone would like to donate money to pay for supplies or straw, we do have Venmo it is . Each one of our shelters will cost in excess of the $10 donation. We can also use people to help assemble them. These are a higher quality tote. We used some of these last year. They are very very nice and should last many years. We appreciate all of the help from the community in the work. We are doing for outdoor cats. Drop off of supplies is in Northeast Grand Rapids off of Plainfield and 4 Mile Rd.
