Have you registered for our 79th Annual Meeting? Over 100 people already have!

On Thursday September 11th, join us at our Hellbranch Meadows restoration site in western Franklin County and explore the nearly 200 acre conservation project that has been 17 years in the making since we acquired the property in 2008. During this open house, we will have multiple tours and activities including wetland tours, bird walks, prairie plant hikes, and hot air balloon rides (weather-dependent).

This event is free, but please register if you plan on attending, so we can have a headcount for food and to notify you of any event changes due to weather. Learn more and register at www.franklinswcd.org/annual-meeting

The Darby Creek Association urges you to attend this last of the four Big Darby Accord Amendment workshops (see below) on Tuesday, 7/29, 6:00-8:00 PM at the Prairie Township Community Center, 5955 W Broad Street. This one will concentrate on land use.

Please watch this page for further information on how you can comment on this and other issues, such as limiting development's impacts, saving Big and Little Darby Creeks' high biodiversity and rare species, and the need for Metro Parks and local governments to acquire much more conservation land to protect it from development and the Big and Little Darby Creeks from decline, protect our National Scenic River and provide expanded recreational opportunities.

You can read about the "land use" topic in the Big Darby Accord Watershed Master Plan at https://bigdarbyaccord.org/the-plan

Send your comments to: [email protected] and please copy DCA at [email protected].

Make your voice heard!

The National Park Service is hosting an upcoming public comment period to gather input on the Buckeye National Scenic Trail Feasibility Study, intended to evaluate the potential inclusion of the Buckeye Trail in the country’s National Trails System.

This would be just the 12th National Scenic Trail in the country, and it would intersect with and support access to many of our Scenic Rivers.

OMAHA, Neb. – The National Park Service (NPS) is hosting an upcoming public comment period to gather input on the ongoing Buckeye National Scenic Trail Feasibility Study, intended to evaluate the potential inclusion of the Buckeye Trail in the country’s National Trails System.

It’s official! Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make Raccoon Creek our newest Scenic River!
