Social Juice

Social Juice Social Juice is a project initiated by Zero Waste Aberdeen.

Starting with a focus on using apples past their best and therefore destined as waste, we now include pears and other fruits to widen the range of juices / products available for the community.

Lovely day at Cloisterseat Orchard today. Some lovely apples on show. We weren't really looking for that this year as we removed many of the flowers to encourage root growth. Obviously some flowered after our visits.

Helping out Cove Woodland Trust today after a change of plans. It's hoped the fence will provide more peace for pond life and act as a deterrent to dogs who just love to get covered in mud. Unfortunately some flea treatments can be detrimental to the pond life we want to encourage so it will help with that too. The ground proved to be very stoney and compacted so it was hard work getting the posts in deep enough. Postcrete would have made the job easier but we persevered for environmental reasons and also benefited from a good workout.

That's the grass cut at the Cove Community Orchard this afternoon. Also helped out Cove Woodland Trust build a fence around the wildlife pond this morning. A very productive day indeed. Out at our Cloisterseat Orchard tomorrow and Friday.
