The Calgary Congress for Equity & Diversity in the Arts is an initiative started by Stage Left Productions and Chromatic Theatre. We are an intercultural, multi-disciplinary agent of collective action dedicated to fostering broader appreciation for diverse artists, art forms and arts practices in Calgary's professional arts sector by...

• Prioritizing diverse artists in its leadership roles;

• P

roviding a focal point for the dissemination of equity & diversity in the arts knowledge and the advancement of equity & diversity in the arts capacity;

• Increasing the presence and visibility of diverse artists, art forms and arts practices;

• Promoting the value of diverse artists, art forms and arts practices as a vehicle of arts enrichment;

• Ensuring that diverse artists, art forms, and art practices are valued by, and therefore welcomed in, the broader arts community;

• Identifying and serving the needs of diverse artists, art forms and arts practices;

• Advocating for increased funding, resources and market access opportunities for diverse artists, art forms and arts practices which experience systemic inequities;

• Including all equity-seeking communities in the Canadian arts ecology; and

• Representing Calgary in national arts discourse and advocacy that impacts diverse artists, art forms and art practices. OBJECTIVES

The Calgary Congress for Equity & Diversity in the Arts' endeavors to:

• Deepen intercultural understanding;

• Advance professional development, networking, dialogue, and knowledge-sharing;

• Strengthen connections between diverse and broader arts communities;

• Nurture the potential for partnerships, collaborations and resource-sharing;

• Promote the development, recognition, and understanding of the artistic practices of diverse communities; and

• Enhance public access to diverse art forms and cultivate audiences from diverse communities.
