๐๐ฅ๐๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐ฆ๐๐ข๐ช๐๐๐ฆ๐๐ ๐๐ง ๐ง๐๐ ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐๐ก ๐๐๐จ๐๐๐ง๐๐ข๐ก ๐ฆ๐จ๐ ๐ ๐๐ง!
Weโre honoured to be part of the ๐๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ป ๐๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฆ๐๐บ๐บ๐ถ๐ last week, organised by DesignSingapore Council (DSg), and refreshingly conceptualised and hosted by Tamsin Greulich-Smith and Jeffrey T. K. Valino Koh.
The Summit this year brings together over 500 students, educators, and designers to explore and reflect on diverse design mindsets.
Crater is grateful to be appointed by DSg as a ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ณ๐ฏ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ฃ๐บ ๐๐ฆ๐ด๐ช๐จ๐ฏ programme partner for primary and secondary schools these two years.
In particular, we want to thank Sheena Lai, Junhua Chen and Ben Tan for their unwavering support and faith in our signature programme and one-of-its kind brand of design education.
Hereโs a look at what happened during the eventful Summit:
๐ธ ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ (๐๐ค๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐ง ๐๐ข๐๐ซ๐๐ซ๐ฒ) - ๐๐ง๐ฉ๐๐๐ค๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐ง ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐ฌ๐๐ญ๐ฌ: Our founder Puah and Head of Character & Citizenship Education Timothy Song from our partner school, Raffles Institution, shared about fostering empathy through conversations and community trails. This was followed by a lively exchange with other educators in the room on how to harness design thinking to nurture studentsโ E21CC (ie Emerging 21st-Century Competencies) dispositions, skills, and values.

Having impacted ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ญ,๐ด๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐๐๐๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ ๐๐ต๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ด๐ต ๐๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ป ๐ง๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ธ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ร ๐๐ผ๐บ๐บ๐๐ป๐ถ๐๐ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ถ๐น, she shared early insights on an experiential, place-based approach to cultivating empathy and creativity through neighbourhood exploration with fellow researchers, design practitioners and educators.
๐ธ Most importantly, weโre reminded of how we ourselves as design educators must embody and immerse in these design mindsets: ๐ฐ๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ, ๐ฐ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ผ๐๐ถ๐๐, ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐๐ต๐, ๐ผ๐ฝ๐๐ถ๐บ๐ถ๐๐บ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ถ๐๐, and role-model them as we empower our youths to be co-creators in the future of design education.
