Weโ€™re honoured to be part of the ๐——๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ป ๐—˜๐—ฑ๐˜‚๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ฆ๐˜‚๐—บ๐—บ๐—ถ๐˜ last week, organised by DesignSingapore Council (DSg), and refreshingly conceptualised and hosted by Tamsin Greulich-Smith and Jeffrey T. K. Valino Koh.

The Summit this year brings together over 500 students, educators, and designers to explore and reflect on diverse design mindsets.

Crater is grateful to be appointed by DSg as a ๐˜“๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜ฃ๐˜บ ๐˜‹๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜จ๐˜ฏ programme partner for primary and secondary schools these two years.

In particular, we want to thank Sheena Lai, Junhua Chen and Ben Tan for their unwavering support and faith in our signature programme and one-of-its kind brand of design education.

Hereโ€™s a look at what happened during the eventful Summit:

This was followed by a lively exchange with other educators in the room on how to harness design thinking to nurture studentsโ€™ E21CC (ie Emerging 21st-Century Competencies) dispositions, skills, and values.

Having impacted ๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐Ÿญ,๐Ÿด๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฌ ๐˜€๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐˜€ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ด๐—ต ๐——๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ป ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ธ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ร— ๐—–๐—ผ๐—บ๐—บ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜๐˜† ๐—ง๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—น, she shared early insights on an experiential, place-based approach to cultivating empathy and creativity through neighbourhood exploration with fellow researchers, design practitioners and educators.

Over the past two years, our Community Trails have brought ๐Ÿ,๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ– ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ beyond their classrooms โ€” connecting with ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ– ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐ญ๐ง๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ ๐š๐œ๐ซ๐จ๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐Ÿ“ ๐ง๐ž๐ข๐ ๐ก๐›๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ก๐จ๐จ๐๐ฌ.

Through these trails, students learnt to listen, observe, and empathise with people in their communities โ€” discovering stories, values, and perspectives that canโ€™t be found in textbooks.

They used these insights to help create more ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐š๐œ๐ญ๐Ÿ๐ฎ๐ฅ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฆ๐ž๐š๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ ๐Ÿ๐ฎ๐ฅ ๐•๐ˆ๐€ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ฃ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ฌ, and even for ๐š๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐œ ๐œ๐š๐ซ๐ž๐ž๐ซ ๐ž๐ฑ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐จ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ข๐ซ ๐ง๐ž๐ข๐ ๐ก๐›๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ก๐จ๐จ๐๐ฌ.

At TEDxSingapore Youth, our founder Louis Puah shared his journey โ€” from being told to โ€œfocus on gradesโ€ to discovering his path through mentors, passions, and everyday conversations.

From students running their own Beyblade competitions, to interviewing neighbourhood shopkeepers, to even setting up a co-working space in school, Louis reminded us that real learning isnโ€™t confined to classrooms. It happens everywhere โ€” in our neighbourhoods, communities, workplaces, and the connections we build each day.

The future of learning often begins in the simplest moments โ€” the conversations we have about life, dreams, and what matters to us.

Today's the last day of school for Term 2 and Crater set up a gratitude wall for students and parents to express gratitude to fellow students, parents, teachers, staff.

It takes a village to raise a child.

As we move into the June holidays, our boys (and parents!) recognized the efforts of everyone in the village. The exercise was a reminder that we are all trying our best, and affirmed each other's efforts.

We will be displaying the notes that were written in Term 3 as the boys return from the holidays, aiming to nurture a culture of peer support and recognition!

Our team at Crater was delighted to host team members of Chemistry at our office earlier this week.

Chemistry is a strategic experience design consultancy, driven by a passion for creating meaningful impact through human and planet-centred design.

The highlight of our afternoon was letting Chemistryโ€™s team experience The Collapse, an economic-simulation game developed by Praxium.

After playing The Collapse, Chemistryโ€™s team reflected that the game helped them to think more deeply about the necessary trade-offs societies have to make in their development.

Here in Crater, we actively welcome community partners to co-work at Crater and inspire students with the work they do.

Stridy is a non-profit organisation founded in Singapore to encourage citizens to clean up within the urban community.

Fun fact: Stridyโ€™s current intern, Aidan, was a past student at St. Andrewโ€™s Secondary School!
