Successful K-9 Track Leads to Safe Recovery of Missing Individual

In the early morning hours, South Portland Police responded to a report of a missing individual living with dementia who had left his residence sometime after 1:00 a.m. Family members contacted police as soon as they became aware he was missing.

Officer Peters and K-9 Mel quickly responded and began tracking from the residence. Despite several hours having passed since the individual left the area, K-9 Mel successfully followed the individuals path and located him a short distance away.

Thankfully the individual was found uninjured and safely reunited with his family.

This incident highlights the incredible capabilities and valuable role of our K-9 teams. Great work by Officer Peters and K-9 Mel in helping bring this situation to a safe and positive outcome.
