From May 17-25 we were in Vrsar, Croatia, for the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange “Screen Smart”, together with young people from Croatia, Kosovo, Germany, Slovenia, Finland and Ukraine.

Throughout the week, we explored topics related to digital wellbeing, healthy online habits, critical thinking, and responsible digital engagement through interactive workshops, discussions, and group activities. We were especially proud to lead a session on digital wellbeing, sharing our perspectives and learning from participants from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Beyond the educational activities, the project provided a valuable space for intercultural exchange, collaboration, and friendship-building. From exploring Vrsar during our free time to working together on creative final tasks, every moment contributed to a meaningful learning experience.

We return home with new knowledge, unforgettable memories, and stronger connections across Europe. Thank you to everyone who made this experience possible!

Local Training Visits in Kosovo 🇽🇰

We had the pleasure of hosting a local training visit in Kosovo, with activities and visits taking place in Pristina and Mitrovica, filled with lots of learning, exchange and shared experiences.

As part of the CB4leisureYWD project, these local training visits offered valuable insights into inclusive practices and the lived experiences of people with disabilities.

During our time in Pristina, we met with Team Rijad, visited the Kosovo Disability Forum, where we had the opportunity to speak with its Executive Director, Bujar Kadriu, and engaged in discussions with students at the Faculty of Philosophy – Department of Social Work. Together, we explored topics around accessibility, inclusion and adapted practices, while also sharing perspectives from both countries.

In Mitrovica, we visited Down Syndrome Kosova and their café Bistro x21, where we learned more about their work and the employment of people with down syndrome. We also spent time at the Së Bashku Center, where, besides discussions, we also practiced adapted basketball sport – Baskin instructed by the Zanandrea team from Italy, with the beneficiaries. We also met with representatives of the Kosovo Boccia Federation, who are actively working to promote inclusive sports opportunities, particularly through the development of boccia as a competitive and recreational activity, supporting participation, accessibility, and equal opportunities in sports.

Beyond the activities, these visits were about building bridges, sharing perspectives and strengthening collaboration across countries.

We successfully held our two-day online Kick-Off Meeting for the Erasmus+ project SocEntYwD – Capacity Building in Youth Work for Social Entrepreneurship of Youngsters with Disabilities.

🤝 Partners from Croatia, Kosovo, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina aligned on project objectives, reviewed the work plan, and launched preparations for key activities, including curriculum development, the online course for youth workers, dissemination efforts, and upcoming mobilities.

With clear responsibilities, strong collaboration, and a shared vision, the consortium is ready to move into the next phase - developing tools that will empower youth workers and support young people with disabilities in exploring social entrepreneurship.

Last Saturday, our members Ardita Xhemajli and Qëndresa Ujkani hosted the fourth session of the NextGen Balkans: Youth Cooperation Series, bringing together young people from Kosovo and Greece for a discussion on Climate Action & Environmental Awareness.

We were joined by two guest speakers, Blerinda Veliu, Sustainability Professional, and Diar Bekteshi, young activist, who shared insights from their work on climate action, youth engagement, and environmental protection as a fundamental right.

The session wrapped up with a collaborative workshop where participants worked in mixed groups to identify local environmental challenges and co-create practical, youth-led solutions.

Yesterday, Vogiatzi Natassa and Evangelos Priftis hosted the very first webinar of the NextGen Balkans: Youth Cooperation Series, diving into the theme of Youth Participation & Democracy — and what a start!

✨We kicked things off with warm welcomes from the co-organisers, got to know each other through a fun one truth, one lie icebreaker, and shared a bit about our interests and motivations as young people from across the region.

The heart of the day was our interactive workshop:🔍 Through Their Eyes: A Cross-Border Role-Play on Youth Participation & TrustStepping into the roles of everyday citizens from Greece and Kosovo, we explored the challenges young people face — feeling unheard, disengaged, or mistrustful toward institutions. Together, we reflected on issues our countries share and brainstormed solutions that could work on both sides of the border. Teamwork, creativity, unexpected insights… all of it was there. 🤝💡

And the best part? We’re just getting started.Next week, the NGO Building the Balkans team is taking the floor with a fresh session on digital skills & innovation. 🚀✨

A huge thank you to our guest speakers from Όμιλος Διεθνών και Ευρωπαϊκών Θεμάτων and the EU Youth Hub for bringing their unique perspectives and energy to this first chapter of the series. 🙌

Last Saturday, our members Qëndresa Ujkani and Ardita Xhemajli hosted the second webinar of the NextGen Balkans: Youth Cooperation Series, bringing together young people from Kosovo and Greece for an engaging session on Digital Skills & Innovation.

We set the tone for the day with a short interactive moment that encouraged participants to reflect on the digital skills they use every day and what innovation means to them. This simple exchange created a shared starting point and opened space for a meaningful cross-border conversation.

We also presented examples from the local level in Kosovo that contribute to youth empowerment, digital education, and innovation, highlighting how different initiatives help young people grow in tech, leadership, creativity, and community problem-solving.

Our main activity was a co-creation workshop where participants explored some of the biggest challenges faced by youth today, including unequal access to digital tools, gaps between schools and job-market skills, low digital literacy, lack of mentorship, and limited hands-on learning opportunities. Working in mixed teams, they designed simple, practical solutions rooted in real needs from their communities. The teamwork and creativity were inspiring.

This week, our partners are hosting the next session. Stay tuned! 🔜
